Your touchsceen is covered under warranty, but you will not be able to return it to the store if it is past your 30 days. You will need to call UTSTARCOM at 800-229-1235 and arrange for a repair. It is very easy, and they are cool. I developed the "dark spot of doom" on my touchscreen and had to send it to them. It took about 10 days, and I just got it back 2 days ago, good as new (they replaced the LCD).
Good luck! |

Call a CSR and they will transfer you to Asurion. (that's if you have the insurance: which I hope you do)
You will be charged a $50 deductible and they will send you a new phone. You than place your old phone in a envelope and send it back to them. It takes about 3 days to receive the new phone. Good thing is, since there aren't any refurbished ones yet, you get to keep all the accessories that come with the new one. I have (2) of the following Case Styli Chargers Sync Cables |

you shouldnt go through asurion for this. while you can, its unnecessary and will do nothing but use one of your claims (youre allowed 3/year) when you dont have to.
if you have the full $7 insurance or the $4 esrp take it to a service center and they will fix it for you at no cost. if you do not, they will fix it for $55 (a few bucks more than insurance, but its same day service and no loss of insurance claim.) you can also call uts, as mentioned, if you dont mind being without the phone for a few weeks |

IMHO, the insurance is a complete ripoff and ends up being a hassle every time you have a claim. The manufacturer has a 1 year warranty...use it. It costs you nothing. I had my Mogul as a backup, so 10 days was not a big deal for me to be without my phone. Sprint's website lets you easily swap one phone activation for another, all without talking to anyone.
Of course, if you make a retarded mistake with your phone (lost, dropped in the crapper, run over by a train), the warranty does not apply. But for things that can be construed as a "defect" (like the OP's and mine), definitely use the warranty. I wish my ex-wife had a warranty like that. I would have returned her as "defective" with a quickness. |
