Angry I love the Touch but HATE Windows Mobile!

Ok this is getting extremely ridiculous...

First off there is some sort of incompatibility with XP64, AS, and my Touch... it doesn't connect successfully but maybe 20% of the time. Then when it does connect it locks up either my desktop or the phone.

Secondly, as a result of the above problem I can't sync my contacts with Outlook. I was lucky the first time I did a hard reset and was able to recover my contacts with no problems...

However, after installing BatterStatus Today Plugin found here: http://www.chi-tai.info/cs_BatterySt..._WM5_iM_cs.htm, activated some of the extra options to let me see the power consumption and some other things. As soon as I clicked OK and attempted to make my way back to the Today Screen it froze. I soft reset 3 times, only to have my phone freeze on the today screen.

WHY DOES WINDOWS MOBILE NOT SHIP WITH A BUILT-IN SAFEMODE? I SERIOUSLY HATE BILL GATES WITH A PASSION...

Not only do I not have my USB cable with me, but even if I did it's no use since the phone is frozen on boot. On top of that, I now have to re-enter all 200 of my contacts by hand. I have to reinstall my apps.... I have lost my email/sms along with all of the apps I had installed.

This crap just always seems to spring on you on the most unexpected day, which usually happens to be the worst day...

I can see you are upset. My philosophy to a stable phone is not to install anything that runs all the time or digs in to the systems control. All these free programs are nice to play with, but can cause problems.

For your usb problem, it's well documented to try turning off "Advanced network functionality" is you are having problems with the usb. This option is located under Settings/Communications/USB to PC.

for the love of St. Peter, go to live.mail2web.com and set up an account. Then you can sync over the air and never ever lose anything. Oh, and yeah, it's free.

that's a good philosophy... and i've been pretty good about installing only passive software. the battery meter looked harmless and was listed on a reputable website that lists ppc software. i don't run wisbar apps for both the bugginess when working with other apps and for the fact they slow the phone down.

do you happen to have a list of good today plugins that you use?

Uh... put down the doobie?

350 contacts, 135 active calender entries, and 67 tasks. Not a problem, working fine.

http://live.mail2web.com/

Show me where they say there is a limit, and I'll eat my doobie

Edit... and if for some reason you really cannot get that to work, use

http://www.funambol.com/

Same idea, weirder name. They use their own app on the WM phone, but it works fine as well (I use both - only funambol works on both ipod touch and wm and Outlook on the desktop, but mail2web live is better integrated into WM/activesync. Heck, you can never have enough copies of your PIM data in the cloud.
