Looking for a BT receiver that has breadcrumb trail functionality when not paired with a PDA. i.e. You can turn on the BT module, put it in your pocket, and not pair it with anything. It will store the breadcrumb trail within the module and then you can download it to your PC/PDA once you get home.
I know there's a specific name for this functionality but I don't know what the hell it is. I must be blitzed......... |

Re: Official Bluetooth GPS Receivers Thread
Ok so, this is for any poor soul that got suckered into buying a BT-5 GPS reciever to be used with Bell's HTC Touch, with Windows Live Search, and/or Google Maps.
I got the GPS unit thinking it was a bargain, only to be distressed for the past 2 days trying to setup this device with virtually NO DOCUMENTATION. But allass, I got it working! Here's what worked for me 100%... 1. - FULLY charge BT-5 GPS Unit. 2. - In Mobile goto.. Start > Settings > Connections > Bluetooth > Mode 3. - Check, Turn on Bluetooth, and make device visible. 4. - Goto Devices, and find BTGPS (this took me like 5 mins to find it...KEEP TRYING..) 5. - Use 0000 as the passcode. 6. - Check off 'Serial Port', then click finish 7. - Go into Bluetooth > COM Ports, and add, COM2. (I unchecked Secure Connection, should make response faster...) 8. - In Mobile goto.. Start > Settings > System > External GPS 9. - In Programs Tab, select COM1, and in Hardware tab select, COM2 with a Baud Rate of 4800. 10. - In windows live search, OR google maps (or both), simply remember to use COM1 as your GPS setting. It can't get any more detailed than this. It is fast in finding GPS signal. shows when I'm driving etc... now if I could only find a better FREE voice enabled Nav. Software for my phone... Hope this helps! - pwnt n003$ This worked for me. |

Re: Official Bluetooth GPS Receivers Thread
Also have the Holux 1200 and have had TomTom 6 but now been running Iguidance 4.0 for almost year. TT6 is much more user friendly, but Iguidance actually tells you which street to turn on instead of "Turn left in 200 yards" its "Turn left on Market street" Love that feature.
Although I'm kind of pissed that the map is old. There is no way of updating it. |

Re: Official Bluetooth GPS Receivers Thread
Soooo does anyone out there have a "spare" receiver they would like to part with for a reasonable amount?
Figured there has to be a couple of people who have one too many.... PM me if you have one you'd like to send to a loving home... |

1 vote for holux slim 236 + igo
One day i was in my car playing around with gps, it was raining out. For some odd reason the unit fell out of my lap or out of the car somehow and laid in the rain for a full day. It wasnt until the next day i walk up to the door and noticed it peaking out of soft mud since i so cleverly parked in the yard that day... My heart almost dropped, i immediately took it inside, completely took it all apart and dried everything off.. It still works!!! So let me be the first to say holux makes some quality products. |
