I am having this issue too when I turn the phone on when there is a PIN in use. When I turn off the screen during a call to prevent unintentional button pressing, I cannot turn it back on during the same call and have the start menu work. I have to end the call, and then hit the power button to turn the phone off and back on. The start menu then works.

Does anyone know how to disable the "home screen on power up" even if there is a PIN lock? I don't want to give up the security for this to work right. THANKS!
