are you using the official bell rom? if you are, I also experienced this with the bell rom. It froze and wouldnt work and I had to reset. It would only work if there is only gps locks already or the gps is primed. For some people, there were able to get it working by uninstalling and reinstalling. Others had to hard reset a few times and reinstall igo to make it work on the official bell rom. That seemed to fix the problem.

For me, I just decided to reflash back to a kitchen rom and that fixed the problem. With freezing without have to hard reset/reinstall etc. I still needed to prime the gps or it wouldnt find it.

Otherwise, if you choose to stay on the official rom, try what I said above. And as clk said, use astrolauncher. Make sure your links are correct when you use it so that it starts igo after starting astrolauncher.

afaik, iGO has some troubles with power management/susprend etc,
for me, the problem strangely had shown up ONLY
when GPS was NOT open/primed..

if GPS is primed before using iGO, it never froze...

now, after I uninstalled and reinstalled it once,
the problem has gone for good, and iGO is able to start even withoht GPS being primed..

have no idea why ..

Just to let you know, Astrolauncher does not have a link by default for IGO8, you need to download that link into your programs folder. So even if you installed Astrolauncher, you still need a shortcut that launches it and then IGO8.

Here's what you do:

1. Assuming you have the IGO8 directory, 2577 directory, and gpslog in your sd card, install IGO8 from the 2577 directory by clicking on the autorun.exe. It will install and launch IGO8. At this point, IGO8 will be slow and appear to freeze. This is okay. Just get out of it.

2. Go into \windows\start menu\programs and delete all references to IGO8 so that you will not confuse yourself in the following step. There should be 2 links, one called IGO8 Nav n Go and the other is the uninstall.

3. Install astrolauncher. Then download and unzip the following link and put into the \windows\start menu\programs folder on your touch:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...&postcount=207
It is a shortcut that does some magic.

4. Now go to start menu=>programs and look for the IGO8 shortcut. This shortcut launches Astrolauncher to prime the GPS and then launches IGO8. that's the magic. It's a one click solution to your problem.

5. The last thing to do is delete the shortcuts for iguidance and tomtom from the programs folder since you don't have those installed.

I've found that if you launch IGO8 without opening the GPS port, IGO8 will appear to freeze. However, if you launch it using the Astrolauncher shortcut in step 3, IGO8 will not freeze even when there are no sats detected - like in the basement in a house.

try it and see if it works for you.

The speaker is sound, the bars with the antenna is network. the one with the arrows is activesync. the one with the plug is your battery charging. Just click on one of the icons when that balloon pops up.

Very nicely written... I concur that your instructions are bang on and will work perfectly. I performed the same steps on my own before reading your post... would have been nice to have gotten this info days ago but I guess nothing worth having comes without a little effort.

I'm having the same issue as you. I've also gone through similar steps as you but when the error message pops up the customization process freezes and does not complete. Does anyone know the problem or fix?
