Firsttimer, what you will need is a wifi router. Linksys makes one that you could just plug your smartphone in through usb and start the connection. I forget the model number though. But, this is doable.

Where I live there is no DSL or Cable so I must use my smartphone for my Internet connection. Everything works great and I can't wait for Rev A.

I have WiFi newtwork in my home and when ever I want to get on the Internet, I must disconnect from the WiFi net. This is a pain in the butt.

I have tried everything I can think of, Bridging, ICS, different IP addresses and nothing works.

I have a 802.11g routher three PC's, and a WiFi printer. I want to be able to use the Internet from any PC via the WiFI net without having to buy a data card. I prefer to use the USB connection so my phone stays charged up while surfing. Anyone have any ideads on how to do this?

yes, i have done this before. you need to bridge your connection from your dialup USB, to your connection going to your router. then you need to change your ip maddress to a static ip address.

I had the same issue and finally i found a tutorial to help me, I will try and get it for you.

This is the machine of internet source for all other machines. Internet connection sharing *must* be turned on for the computer to make the internet available to the Ethernet port distributing the internet connection to the router. You will need to use a crossover cable to connect the router to this computer and plug this cable into the "internet" connection at the router. This will allow the router's DHCP function to distribute the internet to the other computers connected to the router (including wireless). If you do not have a crossover cable, the host computer must be plugged into any of the regular ports on the router, however, port #1 is preferred. This is less efficient, but can work. One more place that can stop a router connection is the IP address of the computer towards the router. The "Local area connection" used should be set to obtain an IP address automatically, or be set up with a *valid* static IP address with the router.

Windows Firewall can cause trouble with internet connection sharing.
Go to control panel, select Windows Firewall. Click the "Advanced" tab and then click (checkmark) the shared connection you will be using. Now click "settings" button adjacent to the box you just made the check in. In the "Services" tab, mark/check *everything*, now click the "IMCP" tab and again, mark/check *everything*. Now click "ok", check all connections from computer to router etc, restart computer and check host computer actually can access the internet, if ok, check LAN port lights (if available) showing a connection is in fact made to router, check router status lights also. Wait about 3-5 minutes before attempting to access internet on other computers connected to the router. This gives Windows time to complete all negotiations with router.

If host computer can access router, all computers connected to router should be able to access internet. Open browser, go to site 192.168.1.1 and router log-on page should be showing, if it is not, then here you have a connectivity problem with the router. If you are able to connect to the router and other computers still cannot connect, the problem is internet connection sharing on the host machine. Turn off Windows firewall and try again, make sure sharing is turned on for the port that actually brings in the internet to the computer. All this said, it should work, as long as you have ran the network setup wizard and configured your computer to be a proper internet host... but that is something I'm going to assume you have already done.

i was just wondering, in the latest 10-21-08 release, what version of .net compact framework is installed with it? was asking because i tried to install .net cf 3.5 and i had errors nearing the end of installation and that was even after a hard reset and trying again....... and is this 10-21 release based off the new 6.1 alltel rom? cuz i noticed some similarities between this one and alltels with how the gps acts and works..... sorry if its already been said, havent been keeping up on the posts as much lately

oh yea... you asked for feedback on the roms.... just 2 quick things, you should include google maps and a few more games...... and was wondering, is there any way to make text messages show up as read when you view them in the m2d messages tab? cuz i always read them from there but when i do, they still show as unread, so i have to open messaging to make them read so it will stop notifying me

The staic IP fixed half my problem. The Vista laptop with the smartphone and wifi now co-exist. How can I now get the other computers on the wifi network to use the smartphone Ineternet connection?

Would a manual entry in the route table fix this? Any ICS or bridgingcauses the Inetenet conection to go away.

Right now I am not in a position to purchase new hardware to mke this happen.

hey guys, found a pretty sweet program the other day. its called TouchLaunch. it kooks really nice with this ROM and it seems to be a cure for my "all programs" softkey problem. I found it over at XDA. ill go ahead and post it and if you want to check it out yourself or donate to the author go to "about" and all the info is in there along with a link. try it out

Also i think i have the startup sound figured out, i had a double driver in there and they would interfere with each other. so that should be fixed now.
