Re: Upgrading Tutorial For Verizon XV6900!!! Radio 3.42.30 with working GPS

Negamann: I was able to resolve my bluetooth headset problem. I was currently running OMJ's CUSTOM Verizon ROM, but reflashed my phone to OMJ's OEM Verizon ROM and it works perfect now. Not sure what was in the Custom ROM that caused my problems, but the OEM version works perfect.

I also downloaded a program called VisualGPSce and it works even better than the ViewGPS program you suggested. Give it a try and let me know what you think. ( http://www.visualgps.net/VisualGPSce/default.htm ).
It's FreeWare (and we all LOVE FreeWare)!!
The nice part about this program, it remembers the Comm Port and Baud rates! And, it seems to lock much faster than the ViewGPS.

Anyone out there waiting to flash their xv6900 to get their GPS working... wait no more! Follow Negamann's instructions, flash to OMJ's OEM Verizon Rom, and away you go! There are a lot of ROMs available with a lot of added bells and whistles. If you want more control of what is added to your phone, then this is the ROM you want! The GPS feature of the xv6900 is very cool and you will be much happier with your phone once you turn this on. Google Maps and Live Search are very cool with a working GPS!

Once again.... T H A N K Y O U N E G A M A N N for all your help! I could have never done it without you! And thanks to everyone else for the helpful posts to this thread as well! I am now a very loyal fan of PPCGEEKs!!

They apololgize for the inconvinence and walk you through getting it going again. It only takes about 5 minutes and you'll have your phone working again.

Congrats on a successful flash!! I'm enjoying my GPS as well!
Depends on the rep I guess. I called from my 6900 and they were able to fix it while I was on hold.

Since then, I've had trouble using ICS to tether my pc using the XV6900. I have the "unlimited data" add-on to my Verizon plan ($39.99/mo) but was unable to tether without running into the VZ Access Manager roadblock. Thanks to Magicality's help, I can finally connect using this fix:

Dial ##778
Select edit, enter 000000
View Info -> M.IP Default Profile
Change DUN NAI to yournumber@vzw3g.com
View Info -> Security
Change S.IP DUN User name to same as above (yournumber@vzw3g.com)

Menu->OK-> Let it soft reset

Now connect your laptop or pc with the usb cable, select Programs> Internet Connection Sharing and surf away!

Again, thanks to Negamann and Magicality for sharing their wisdom with us rookies!
I followed your instructions, and it works beautifully! THANKS for the info!
Should I expect a charge from Verizon on my next bill for Tethering?? I have not purchased that service from Verizon but I'm sure they won't give it to me for free!

Sorry I meant another "version" of MMS. I do use 5.0.31.7 without problems. Try finding a better source to get it from.
I've seen other programs, but I believe they aren't worth it.

Re: Upgrading Tutorial For Verizon XV6900!!! Radio 3.42.30 with working GPS

This may be a stupid question, but does negamann's rom have WM6.1 in it? Also I am somewhat hesitant about updating my XV6900 because of the lack of sophistication in doing this kind of thing. Is there anyone in the Detroit area who has updated their XV6900 and could help me out with this?

Don't bother with my rom. It has become a lost cause. It was only a test rom. Every other rom out does have WM6.1. Read the posts, there are suggestions in them. Follow directions and ask questions. You will find it is a quite simplex process.
