Re: Upgrading Tutorial For Verizon XV6900!!! Radio 3.42.30 with working GPS

dling your rom negamann, seeing if gps will work downtown tomorrow. gps worked at first quick then restarted and have kinda eh performance since. hasnt locked on in 5 minutes. so i am not sure if the solution that works for everyone yet. ill test though and do a few softresets and test with all the gps tools.

EDIT: adding VIRSER_GPS.dll to /Windows dir might have helped. locked again within a lil over a minute. will test tomorrow at another location downtown.
thought visualGPSce prog was working better but it stalled 2nd time tested. using HTC GPS Tool with Clear Memory to test tomorrow. will goto Park in middle of city, take out battery for 5m, turn on, use HTC GPS to clear memory and test.

Well I'm happy to report that the negamann ROM GPS is still pretty awesome today for me. This morning was very overcast and raining and I couldn't get a lock from in my house, but when I drove to work VisualGPS took 3 minutes to get a fix.

When I left work this afternoon it was clear and sunny but Live Search failed to get a lock after 10 minutes. I pulled over and started VisualGPS and the fix was instant. I started LiveSearch again and it picked right up on where I was.

I drove home using the LiveSearch navigation and it was spot on. Even told me to make the right turn into my driveway which was really interesting because my address is 100th Avenue but my driveway is around the corner on 7th Street.

I'm going to have to see about getting TomTom (or something like it) working. I really need the turn-by-turn. On my way to work this morning I was all discombobulated because LiveSearch displays it's map with North as up.... but I was driving South. So everything that was actually on my left, was displaying on the right. I made a left turn at a busy intersection and then a minute later noticed my right turn signal was on. LOL

Also, the LiveSearch directions are pretty sad. It keeps wanting me to go out on US41 and make U-turns.

UPDATE: Just tried VisualGPS again sitting in my living room now that there are clear skies. 50 seconds to get a fix. Pretty damned impressive. Works as as well as my Dad's $500 Garmin!

It takes me forever too to get a lock with Live Search of with google. If you get TomTom working let us know! I would be real interested in using that. I ride a motorcycle mostly so the turn by turn would be awesome cuz it's hard to look at a screen and ride!

ARe you using negamann's ROM too? Have you tried priming it with VisualGPS?

I want to get TomTom working on my bike too. I think with a waterproof case, a power supply, and a bluetooth earpiece it might work very well.
Check out this demo http://www.tomtom.com/products/categ...D=1&Language=4

I read through the TomTom stuff on XDA-developers last night and it's very convoluted but there doesn't seem to be any other options for the Vogue just yet.

I'm using the Vista Black Rom. It uses GPSToday and I can lock in under 30 seconds with it. So I've just been using that. I've only had the phone for about 4 days now and I fricken love it.

That's awesome! I just don't want to pay the $645 for it...I'd be happy with some headphones in my ears. hmmmm. I wonder if it can play music and do tomtom...I will have to look into this...

Is anyone having problems receiving MMS after the upgrade? It tries to download it and then it just says unable to download. I installed the Vista Black

Sorry to ask but just to be sure did you download the one specifically for Verizon? If you did you still need to setup the mms server settings as listed in the extra steps in this tutorial on the first page.
This post has been thanked 1 times.
