I did disconnect and reconnect, but ActiveSync doesn't show connected.
What could be wrong here?

Then Rom Upgrade Utility is launched, and I cannot see the current version number. Blindly flash it and it only takes less than 1 minutes to reach 100%. After hard reboot, it's still the factory ROM.

I must hit every problem on this forum....

I followed the steps twice, (or maybe three times) and still see 2.00.

Now after Power-Camera-Soft Reset, I see 2.31Coke and it stays on the color strips screen. Soft reset again, it boots into Windows Mobile but the screen becomes black, and cannot be turned on.

So many details are missing in the instruction.... Sorry to say...
and I'll try flash the test ROM directly... Hope it works.

All right, I loaded the test ROM

3.02.651.2_Radio_435011_3.37.15_AM_NV_SPCS_1.33_08 23

But I don't see additional radio or GPS.....

So my SprintPCS Touch is special....

It still shows SPL-2.31.Coke though.

What to do to enable GPS?
alright ok wow, ok so here we go:

#1 - its normal for active sync to not recognize it after you reconnect it, active sync will never recognize the device while in b/l.
#2 - its normal for the ROMUpdateUtility (RUU) to not show the current image number.
#3 - its normal for the unlocker to work very quickly, the unlocker also does not install any special rom.
#4 - what counts is that when you do the camera-power reset, you see Coke 2.31.
#5 - for gps, simply flash the new sprint leaked rom (this will give you the new radio), then flash whichever rom you would like. after that, run the ppst cab posted by boggsie, found in page 14 of the "sprint gps still not working" (or what/e) sticky. after that, run "ppst.exe" found in the windows folder on your device.

then you're good to go!

it is strange that winmo wont really boot up but...not sure what to tell you there. just do what i said and you should be fine.

also...here is a list i have posted a few times in different places trying to help ppl out, thought i might as well throw it out there...

"GPS/REV A STUFF:
Quick How-To for gps/rev a flash/upgrade
IMPORTANT!!! ONLY SPRINT users follow below steps 5 and 8-11!! Altell users can follow all the steps except step 5 as long as they use a different ppst.exe, not the one mentioned below.

ok well i just made up this list a while ago to help someone out, and have ended up giving it to quite a few ppl now, so i figured i might as well post it here under an appropriate title for all to easily see and access.

i know dharvey wrote a great tutorial, and that there are prob others, but..what the heck. plus this is pretty quick and easy, though i cant say that it is as full and thought out and great as dharvey4651's (thx man!)...

"#1- Backup all pim info and anything else you might want (yes flashing will erase/wipe out E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G!!)
#2- Ensure you are currently running your carriers original official oem rom (os and radio) (if you have never flashed it at all then dont worry youre good to go).
#3- Unlock using imcokemans 2.31 unlocker (this for gps roms)
#4- run the sprint leaked rom.exe (here, close to the bottom where it says "original rom")
#5- SPRINT ONLY: allow all customizations to complete and run (i know - it takes a lil while)
#6- flash to desired rom.
#7- after she's all booted up, hard-reset.
#8- download and run cab from here (altell users run your own ppst stuff, non-sprint and non-altell users SKIP TO STEP 12): http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...&postcount=139
#9- allow soft-rest.
#10- navigate to \windows folder and run ppst.exe
#11- allow soft reset.
#12- allow boot-up, customize, restore pim info etc...

credit to boggsie and so many others..."

I read your summary on other thread.
It's really good and deserves to be added in the sticky top post.

Thanks a lot.

again, you'll never see it if you're in bootloader.

It installs a modified bootloader ROM - not the same as radio/os/extedned ROM

Hard reset generally not required, but you should do it right after flashing and before booting, not after.

Please keep in mind that if you're not SPRINT, you DO NOT want Sprint customizations to run.

thanks, i agree with everything you said. and i apologize for not updating my list. i have posted it about 3-4 times now and it is hard to remember where/when...i think ill soon just be deleting all of them and sticking a link in place instead, pointing to my flashing how to thread modified for gps.

but i have now edited it to reflect more accurate info as my other posts concerning that do.

however, about the hard-resetting...i recognize (as i think most all of us do) that it is not required, however i have seen it mentioned a number of times as good practice. it seems crazy to me that a flash woulndn't whipe out something that a hard reset might but...whatever
so basically my question is: what is the deal with hard resetting after flashing, and why would you recommend the timing you do?

thanks.

In theory, the bootloader will clear mem on it's own after a flash (this is not true of older devices, where the practice was necessary). The only reason for manually doing so, is if it didn't quite clear everything. Not real likely, but I suppose it's always possible. The reason for sequencing the hard reset BEFORE you boot (if you do it at all - I have yet to see where it helped anyone on this device) is that there's no reason to make the OS completely initialize twice. Also, the hard reset isn't going to clear any more/less because you let the OS boot. So, save yourself some time and flash, optionally hard-reset, then boot.

gotcha ok i see thx for elaborating.

and just for an instance on the vogue...derek once had this issue; bt wouldn't work directly after flash. hard reset, and it worked. after reading that is when i started doing it...

thx!
