Re: OMJ's WM6.1 Custom Touch ROM w/ UC, GPS, REV A!
Yeah, I wasn't too upset in NYC, but when I was in Leonia, NJ in the middle of no where. I got nothing.
It's important to note that before I flew to NJ, I was using the GPS in St. Louis with relatively few issues. And as I noted, I tried a hard reset with this OMJ ROM and still got nothing. I cannot even begin to guess why after an hour and a half of walking around outside with a perfect view of the sky, I got no satelite locks.... But when I got to my hotel and placed the phoine against the window, I got the usual lock in less than a minute. I've since reloaded the Leaked sprint ROM. I fired it up for the first time in a conference room in the center of a highly secure building. (No windows) Upon starting up for the first time, I got a lock on 2 sats with no driver changes (i.e. virser_gps or gpskickstart). They were intermittent, but it did pick them up. I guess here's what I 've noticed with the OMJ ROM. After a clean install, the GPS seems to work. But somehow it's getting corrupted along the way. example: If I open up Garmin and get a good lock with OMJ's rom and then click the power button on top to turn off the screen, then turn it back on, it can't locate the GPS chip. I have to make sure that I close the application before it turn the screen off everytime. (With the leaked ROM, if I click the power button while GARMIN is running, and the turn the phone back on about 5 secs later, I get an error message, "a problem has occurred with device.exe" - would you like to send an error message?). Once the device can't find the GPS chip, I have issues with the GPS until I reflash. (HArd reset and soft resets aren't helping). -Right out of the box, with a fresh flash, the GPS is working. Re: OMJ's WM6.1 Custom Touch ROM w/ UC, GPS, REV A!
After a fresh ROM install with almost any of the GPS ROMs (I'm on Sprint), GPS works very well. The second day, I have to fight with soft resets, priming, praying and cussing to get GPS to work. The third day nothing but a hard reset will get it working.

Re: OMJ's WM6.1 Custom Touch ROM w/ UC, GPS, REV A!
I have a few questions. I just installed OMJ rom with rev a, now for some reason I cannot install PIM backup on my phone. OMJ old non gps rom had pim backup which was great. I am also having a hard time getting a lock on gps. What settings are you using in GPS Viewer and do you run gps viewer before you open google maps? One more question, for some reason whenever I reset my phone, it automatically starts up in pocket informant which is the organizer I use. I cannot find the startup tab where I can stop this. Thanks for all your help.

Then I installed the newest Alltell Rom, making sure that I did a soft reset before the customizations were run. (This INCLUDES the radio that I am using, 3.37.10) Then I installed OMJ's Bell GPS ROM, although I am not sure if this one is as up to date as his current Sprint ROM, but it would appear so to me and it seems to work just fine. Big key is to use the unlocker first, follow the instructions, and to get into the Coke bootloader, power on the device while holding the camera button, then you'll be ready to load the Alltell ROM, and do the same thing to load OMJ's ROM. If you get stuck there's LOTS of more in depth writeups than I've given you here just search around the forums. Last edited by thracky; 05-13-2008 at 01:04 PM. |
