Both can be disabled by removing them from windows startup..

Quick question:

I have a Bell HTC Touch
I have Coke 2.31
I have installed RUU_Vogue_4350_ALLTEL_WWE_3.04.671.2_Radio_4350H_3 .37.10_Alltel_NV2.00_PRL30008_0331_Ship_withSpecia lNBH
Then I have installed OMJ.WM6.1.GPS.Bell.exe

Works Great but I would like to update to the new rom.

Can I go back into bootloader, install OMJ.WM6.1.GPS.OEM.Sprint.NEW.exe

then Re-install OMJ Bell, just so it can work with bell?

I honestly don't use any bell software on the phone (is there any?) so I don't really care about them but I just want to make sure it works perfectly with my carrier.

Thank You .. So to be certain I'm headed down the right road..

I have the 2.3.1 bootloader instaled, so all i need to do is run the new ruu ??? I wont need to run the unlocker again and then update rom... I'm presently on a OMJ 6.1 Rev a gps rom... Thanks for the responce... :) Now which brave "bell" user with out the .15 radio will try this first .. I'm a complete newbie so I hate to be the "tester" ...lol ..

OMJ, how come your latest version doesn't include Microsoft Voice Command like your earlier versions did? I tried your latest version and tried to install the MSVC I had purchased (1.6) but it didn't work.

Thanks for the responses guys, it seems like I should try the radio 3.37.10 again. Its weird that some people are having some luck with a similar set up to what I have now tho. Also, I'm not sure if going back to a previous radio is a good idea or not. To be honest I might just wait for a bit and see if there are any more developments cus I have flashed my phone way too often in the past few weeks!

Edit: can we get this ROM posted somewhere else? I have nothing but problems downloading off PPC geeks FTP. I can get about half of what I want at any given time but I REALLY want to try this rom out and I cannot get it to download. Please help. Always fails once it staart but i have successfully flashed many roms...just cant download this one now.

no, my rom does not include a radio.....flash the leaked rom to get the new radio.

np bro....I feel bad for ya, not gettin gps....

here's what I would do.....I would bite the bullet, downgrade your SPL, and flash back to stock Bell, and also let the Bell customization run.....then start from scratch.

if u flash OMJ.WM6.1.GPS.OEM.Sprint.NEW.exe then flash the bell rom, you'll see no benefit from the new rom. every flash overwrites the previous rom.

just flash OMJ.WM6.1.GPS.OEM.Sprint.NEW.exe it will have a sprint look but everything should work fine......maybe someday I'll cook some carrier specific rom....

yes....any 3.x radio will work.

the previous roms were a different build (19209), ported from the Kaiser, which had VC included.....

give it another try, I thought the FTP issue was resolved.....I had my roms on my personal site, but they were suckin up my bandwidth.

Hey thanks for the response OMJ, ya this is getting a little frustrating cus some other bell users have the exact same setup and they say there gps is working pretty flawlessly. ARRRRGGGG.

You mentioned flashing back to my original radio/rom - I've read in one of the stickied threads that its prolly not a good idea to downgrade the radio because it can leave traces of itself in the phone. So I'm a little hesitant to do that but it brings up a good point about leaving traces of radio. I kind of think thats whats going on here and my gps is getting confused. Do you know of any way to delete everything for sure in the radio part of the phone?

Hey everybody, I posted this in another thread to but I wanted to post in here so everybody faithfully following this thread could possibly benefit too:


OK guys I have a little update,
I have got gps working again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope I didn't just jinx myself. So after a bunch of mucking around I am able to get locks in under 10 seconds. How did I do this well I can't be totally sure but I'll tell you exactly what I did today:

1. I changed the gpsmode to 4
2. I tried loading up quickgps again (with the hacked registry and all) and got it to connect and work. I'm not sure if this actually did anything because my gps didnt work right after I did this.
3. I set gpstoday settings to use data when needed, and use cell tower approximations, keep device awake when in persistent mode, and i set the minimum fix quality all the way to the left.

4. Now I think what I did next actually did the trick: I went into advanced config and disabled the "use agps" and then reset. I tried to use gps after bootup and nothing locked (I think it was still seeing sats). So then I enabled the agps in advanced config and then reset, I turned on gpstoday, went to gpsviewer and bam!!!!! gps locked 4 sats after about 2 minutes. Now this is in the window of my apartment on a very rainy day in halifax, and I think it would be better outside. I have since soft reseted my phone and it now will lock in under 10 secs at the window!!!!! Not only that but deeper inside my apartment (where I usually didn't get any gps locks before) I can actually lock onto 2 sats (at least something) from a soft reset within 10 secs. AMAZING!!!!

Pretty stolked right now I hope this lasts haha. Now is this all a fluke? I'm not sure but if you are on bell or any other carrier (with OMJs newst rom) and your gps is having trouble, try doing those exact steps. Hopefully it will work for you too!!! I havent completely tested how accurate the gps is but I'll get back to you guys about that later.

BTW, thanks for putting up with all my rants about gps!!

1. run the steps for unlocker 2.31
2. flash the leaked sprint rom
3. flash the custom rom of your choice

yes, it is not recommeneded to go back to stock....but.....I think that statement is more for staying @ stock....I went back to stock myself a week or so ago.....I also think it may be a risk, but the risk is low, especially if your flashing right back to 3.x.....no, I dont know of a way to delete the radio part.

I just read you updated post.....glad ya got it working but still sounds like a pain.....if it continues to be a hassle, you may want to reconsider my suggestion.

OMJ, can you tell me if the ALLTEL specific Rom contains the "missing" GPS driver? Or do I need to install that to get GPS to work.

BTW - I have flashed the Leaked Sprint Rom to get the 3.37.15 Radio update.

I just flashed using your Alltel specific Rom and I am still unable to get the GPS working as I would expect. Do you have any pointers.

Also, in your Alltel Rom in the top Start bar it Shows "EV" when using your ROM, when I used the ALLTEL rom, I was not seeing anything there and they said it was because I had REV A in my area. Any truth to this, and is there any way I can tell if I am using Rev A or not?

yes, it has the VIRSER_GPS.dll driver. yeah, I too had a hell of a time getting GPS to work with those roms. I'm just glad the sprint rom came out, cuz it's night & day between the 2.....I have aborted those alltel/kaiser/specific carrier roms, and wouldn't even recommend them. for a non-sprint user I would recommend either the leaked sprint rom w/o the carrier customization, a custom rom that does not have the carrier customization or using the ppckitchen to cook your carrier specific rom......I may put together some carrier specific roms soon, but it takes alot of time to clean out.

omj... ok this has been buggin me for a while an i jus never got around to posting it.. for some reason my phone does a lot of strange things after a soft reset.. it often sends out texts messages that i send many hours ago to the same recipient, as well as a lot of the threaded texts are gone... its as if it will backdate itself to a few hours ago.. what is up with that? a lot of my friends have told me that they've been receiving weird random text messages from me

I had some odd things like that happen also. Old web pages in the favorites list that I had deleted magically appeared, deleted email was back on the list and so on. I saw behavior like this when the cache values were set to a high value which prevented changes from being saved in a timely manner. I'd assume this is the same thing.

Is this OMJ.WM6.1.GPS.Verizonv2.exe dated 19 May 2008 an updated version of the VZW one you posted on the 1st of the month? I am downloading just in case it is, but thought I would ask.

Never mind, the dates and times of the ftp site were a little screwy and show the correct info this morning. I will wait and see if you get carrier specific versions based on the leaked rom out. No worries.

First, OMJ, thanks for the great work on this ROM. I searched the thread for a similar scenario and couldn't make any progress.

I'm running the latest OMJ customized ROM on a Sprint Touch. I had previously been data roaming on Alltel because Sprint offers only 1X data where I live. After the ROM update, I can no longer keep an EVDO signal when I data roam. I've tried numerous different applicable PRLs (202xx, 606xx, 607xx) with the same result. When I soft reset with forced roaming, the EV icon display briefly (a minute or two) and then changes back to 1X.

Any ideas and or tweaks to keep the phone locked on EVDO instead of it thinking it needs to switch back to 1X data? Thanks!

hmmm, I really don't know, I havent seen any of this myself, and haven't seen many ppl report......have you tried the leaked rom to see if the same happens?

Here ya go Alltel users......I'm running this OEM rom now, looks good, GPS working great as usual.....let me know & if there's interest, I'll make a full version. It does not have UC & DOES have carrier customization.....FYI.

tdemeza....you should see either EV or 1x @ the top.....really a speed test is the only way to know if you have Rev A.

I Read through the thread, hope I didn't miss it.
I had MS Voice Command 1.6 working(call announce) with the Altel radio and your original GPS Rom. I am using your Sprint based 6.1 Rom and VC will not announce calls. I tried the fix where you replace 3 files in programs/VC and 1 in /windows and it causes the phone to lockup when you go to settings in the start menu(I posted this somewhere in the thread.) Has anyone gotten Voice Command to announce calls with the New Sprint based GPS Rom????

Per strange happenings on a soft reset:

I saw the same problem in slightly differing ways and I do NOT see it with the "leaked" system. This looked to me like the same problem that I saw on this and other systems and pdas where data could be lost if the registry based cache values were set, you made some changes and soft reset. My phone didn't send messages, but I had browser history and registry changes, at least, go missing. If the messages looked like they hadn't been set because a flag somewhere was set but the change wasn't saved, it would probably be a different symptom of the same illness. I checked those cache values and didn't see anything out of the ordinary which means there's nothing I can fix and so I put back the sprint system, which does not exhibit the problem, and seconded the original message about this problem. There are a lot of messages here, however.

What is the correct procedure for flashing this phone? It has the latest flash already on it.
ROM: 3.04.671.2
Radio: 3.37.10

Do i need to start with the Vogue_unlocker_MFG_2.3.1 then reflash the phone with ROM version 3.04.671.2 or can i just unlock the phone then flash to whatever ROM i want?

My goal is to have WM6.1 w/ the standard Alltel software (HTC Today, Touch, Cube...all that stuff) and GPS working!

Any help is much appreciated!

Anyone else having problems with the Internet Sharing on Verizon after updating to the OMJ ROM? I have data plan. It works on the phone but then when you do the Internet Sharing it is saying that you you need to subscribe to the Data Plan (15 dollars). For VZW it is actually a tethering add on. I have read that there are some ways around it, but i have not looked into it. I was having some issues just getting connected yesterday so I went back to OMJ's Verizon V2 version. May give it a go again in a day or so to see if that was the issue or not.

Update:

OMJ.. I installed your lastest ALLTEL rom and few things Im having issues with...

1) the phone pops up (Fixed)

2) Phone codes dont work to change PRL or debugging features. Ideas???

3) I have two battery indicators (fixed)

4) GPS doesnt work .. something Im missing?

5) What PRL file needs to be used with this ROM?

Also I have noticed the cell reception with the ALLTEL rom is better but no GPS.. now with the Sprint ROM cell reception is below average and GPS wrks flawlessly.

Also could you make your custom one have the OEM HTC startup screen instead of the PPCKitchen dude??
