How-To Get GPS/Rev A on Sprint Touch

This absolutely ROCKS!!!!
I followed these steps to avoid having to do the GPS steps manually and WOW!

End result is that my Bell Vogue is now running WM6.1 with GPS and RevA!!
I went from ~400Kbps to ~725Kbps! Ya baby! Faster pr0n!!! lol...

GPS is mostly working... I think it might be using aGPS so far since Google Maps says no satellites and "My Location" is a couple hundred meters up the road... =)

This still kicks a$$!!! Thanks soooo much for everything you guys have done!

Soft reset on customizations (so they don't run).

Connect to ActiveSync

Go into Bootloader

Flash phone with jakdillard's ROM (check the Flashing How To if you need help.)

JD's ROM has the GPS files loaded and initialized already. It also has Rev. A. Works great on my Sprint Touch.

Make sure you try jakdillard's WM6.1 ROM. It's in the Alltel ROM thread. Page 44 I think. It enables GPS without any hoops to jump through.

sounds great, once i get back up to my room i'll connect via active sync, power-camera-reset, and flash with the new rom.

Neither, it locks on to satellites and the small amount of information they're broadcasting is used to triangulate your position.

the reason i was asking is because i dont have the data plan, is it free for me to use the gps feature on my phone?

GPS would be free, but you would need a program that already has the maps downloaded, unlike Google Maps or Live Search where you have to have a data connection to get the maps.

Yes so long as you're not using google maps or using live search. Tom Tom and others that come with maps is what you're looking for. It takes about a gig of space. It also isn't free... and some have said they haven't gotten tom tom to work without having google maps or something running first. If you want to try tom tom to see if it works... I don't think theres a trial.... but it'd also be messed up to buy it and then not have it work. There's places that you can find it to try it out. Thats all i'll say.
