Neither, it locks on to satellites and the small amount of information they're broadcasting is used to triangulate your position.

Click the files guys, it doesn't do anything, do it in order. The only one that will seem to do something is the 2nd one. Just do it in order, 1, 2, 3, and you should have 2 text messages mentioning a change in security. Then soft reset if you want, then install the gps enable cab, soft reset. and you're good.

If you're on JD's test ROM none of those steps are necessary, and in fact screw up the gps.

does it matter? Although w/ pages & pages of discussions in this thread about "satellites", I'll take a stab at it and guess satellites.

to install the files, read the post that is located 2 post after the one you're quoting.

ok i must be stupid because i followed the instructions on page one i astablished my active sync i ran the unlocker i get to the point where the ruu pops up it updates the rom i finish that and then i camera/power/reset and then im lost it says its supposed to go back to ImCokeMans bootloader the rainbow screen but my just powers down and back on. Am i missing something PLEASE SOMEONE HELPL ME

Hold power, then the camera button, then press the soft reset button with the stylist. You have to hold all 3 at the same time... its best to start by pressing and holding the power and camera buttons and then doing the soft reset on the bottom. You should then get the tri-colored screen and you can then flash the rom. Either way, since you haven't already flashed to alltel you can just let it boot into whatever rom you had on there before, shoudl work with the new bootloader... it did for me. Then go ahead and establish activesync that way and then start the alltel flash.

Its all good, now you want to start the alltel flash, assuming that you haven't. Just double click the RUU_Vogue_4350_ALLTEL_WWE_3.04.671.2_Radio_4350H_3 .37.10_Alltel_NV2.00_PRL30008_0331_Ship_withSpecia lNBH.exe
file .. download through first link on the first page. Install it and follow all the on screen instructions.

Basically follow from step 4 on the first post in the first page.

Step 5 is important.. hit the button at the bottom to soft reset before it customizes. It'll say "customizing will begin in 3 seconds" make sure you reset at some point during that time, or nearly immediately after.

You just gotta be alittle more specific is all... everyone's gotta learn sometime, and everyone at some point gets an issue. When you flashed, it started up.. said alltel. You didn't allow it to run customizations. And now you're saying when the screen goes blank after 2 minutes, you press the power button and it doesn't come back on?

If that's the case hard reset.. which is trickier than getting the tri-colored screen. Soft reset (button on the bottom) and then nearly immediately after hold the power and the send button and end button at the same time... if it has the HTC logo come up you did it wrong and soft reset again. It'll ask to reset back to manufacturer's settings. To do this press the middle button (enter button). Then when its done it'll say press send to reboot.

MAKE SURE YOU SKIP CUSTOMIZATION AGAIN... it'll do the same thing as it did when you first flashed.
