WAAAAY off topic, but here's the answer anyway.

Tap Menu>Tools>Options

Uncheck the box that says "Display account picker when opening Messaging"

tap ok

It still counts as browsing and it shoudn't cost you anymore for rev-a speeds. GPS is just getting signals from satellites and then doing triangulation and other stuff to figure out where you are. Doesn't use the internet. The map data on the other hand, depends what you're using. But thats either stored on your phone ala tom tom or downloaded on the fly using the web ala google maps and live.

With the alltel people were getting it to work by installing a cab file for gps drivers meant for the titan. I'm not sure what JD is using, but he sure as hell does know alot so i wouldn't be surprised if he already has it working better than any stock rom.

It's "better" because JD packaged the GPS files with the ROM. You don't have to run the 4 files. It is also quicker than the Alltel ROM.

I'm not sure exactly what it contains, but it seems he's taken the best of all the stock ROMs and meshed them together in a symphony of win!

I was getting a lock with the Alltel ROM, but now I can't seem to get a lock in JD's ROM using Google maps. I just hard reset and only installed Google Maps. All of the settings are right (com 4, location on, etc), but it never locks on a satellite. Any ideas?

Two ways to test rev a, make a phone call and then open up internet explorer and browse the web. Rev a makes it possible now for you to do so, so if it works you should get websites open while on the phone.

Another way, less reliable, is going to dslreports.com/mspeed and testing your speed on that site. Best I've gotten with 1-2 bars is 300kb/s which is faster than what I've gotten before. I believe you can get up to ~900kb/s... i've seen 1000kb/s with rev a. The site though isn't inconsistant in tests.

I just tried the phone call while going on the internet and it didn't work. I guess I have a not so reliable gps working and no rev A.

Rev.A will not allow you to do this, because to the best of my knowledge all CDMA carries use 1x for voice and EVDO just for data. You can't have data and voice at the same time. Other than speed, what you should notice is that your calls won't go to voicemail all the time when you are actively on the internet like when you are using Rev.0. An incoming call will cause the data connection to drop to all the call much more reliably than previously. The other think is that obviously your download/upload speed will increase.

For other Telus users, I have successfully flashed to JD's 6.1 and gps is working beautifully. I got a gps lock indoors within 30 seconds with 7 satellites. Data and voice calls worked flawlessly from the first initial boot up.
