Re: Cook your own Custom Touch ROM

I think I have a feel for adding programs. How do you remove programs that are already built into the rom? I'm tryna get rid of junkware stuff and programs that I don't use.

nope, you wont see anything to check unless you have added OEMs to the OEM folder.

that's a bit tricky.....unless someone else can point out an easy way, I would recommend using the clean basekit, then adding whichever OEMs/programs you want in the rom.

Re: Cook your own Custom Touch ROM

Hi. Thanks for the guide. Is there a description to each OEM in the PPCGeeks_OEM rar? There's so much stuff there and I don't know what must of them do.

Alright,... this post pushes a question I've been rolling around in my head for a while now. How do you 'convert' and OEM [back] to a cab?

I ask because I'd like to see what these OEMs do before I take the leap of cooking the feature into a ROM. Does that make any sense? I'm not exactly comfortable with the process yet!

not an real easy way, but go into the OEMs folder, open the option.xml file (use notepad), if there's a note about the program, it will be in the <tips> xxx </tips> section.

read above your quote......to convert OEM to cab (which normally theres no need to cuz there's already a cab somewhere) you have to use a program called WinCE Cab manager (not free) to create a cab, using the files from the OEM.

Re: Cook your own Custom Touch ROM

OMJ, One of your posts says to take a look at Mr Geoff's Reg File. I want to make registry edits before making the Rom. What am I suppose to do with Geoff's RGU file? How would I implement it into my ROM?

I had the rgu in a folder of it's own ready to go as a OEM package. All you need to do is extract the folder, place it in your OEM folder of the kitchen, add the registry edits you want into the rgu. When you run BuildOS... it will be named Regedits.
