I've briefly looked at the dll's with a resourceexplorer (I've posted it here, just search. I used visual studio 5 actually) for the above and see those inside. But someone somewhere did a nice tutorial on the setup.dll for cabs and now quite a few are using it. You can copy files, setup registry entries, just about anything.

I can just delete the setup.dll out of 1-calc and memmaid without problems and install them just via the CAB: command, but touchpal3 does some file manipulation to select the vga mode/default input keyboard. I didn't see that touchpal selects these via registry entries, but have only briefly searched. I think it is more like s2u2 where it copies the appropriate file to be the wallpaper.gif. I really haven't dived into touchpal3 yet though. I really haven't begun my programming career in c++ either, so maybee someone else can chime in with the details on this setup.dll.

edit: from my brief research this morning, the dll in the cab file has two handles pre-intall, and two handles post-install. (handle = options for the installer to call your custom-routines)

ok, I follow ya....I converted the touchPalv3 to OEM, and that setup.dll is conflicting w/ another from setup.dll from Live Search.

that's strange, which version are u using? I've never had any problems w/ TouchPal....I'm still using v2.

I would dump the livesearch one. It only asks you to agree to microsofts...I don't recall there being one there in livesearch...

Edit: But I don't think they would work in a cooked rom either...I would cook the rom, load it and compare the file structure with a cab loaded touchpal if for some reason it doesn't work...

Anyone NOT getting phone calls sometimes with this rom ?
My friends call me and tell me that they have called me a few times and my phone just doesn't ring, in other words, I don't receive any incoming call from some people. But, when I restart my phone, they call me and it works.

Yes, I'm in a good zone to receive calls.

So, anyone with that problem :S? I don't know if it's only with this ROM, I haven't received many calls before installing this. I've had this ROM for about 3 weeks and it's amazing =)

hmm....dumped the live search setup.dll, left in touchPal.v.3, cooked a new rom....

You were right rstoyguy....the setup.dll is key to touchpal....I see the touchPal in settings, but it's not available in "input". I'm still looking for that resourse explorer u mentioned.....

No problems as far as I know of.....if you suspect this to be a problem, I would make tests calls to yourself periodically.....don't take your friends word, who knows what they're doing....maybe they called while u were in 1x?

Try this registry setting
\HKLM\ControlPanel\Phone\Sleep = 0
This should prevent your phone from going into sleep mode.
Default value is 1

OMJ - can't PM you as you're at your message limit. Question - I downloaded a .rar file that was on ImCokeMan's thread with the same file name as what you had put in the ftp. All it has in there is a file called xv6900_RUU_signed.nbh. Can I put that in the folder of what I downloaded earlier and extracted into a folder? If so, do I need to rename it the same as the RUU_signed.nbh, or just move that file out of the folder? As you can tell, I don't know much about all this stuff.

Just tried this, switching out the .nbh files and the phone's back booting. so that's good! Let me know what you figure out about the other; I'd be willing to try again. Now going to see if SKTools backup is any good!

OMJ just a thought, could you make this ROM 100% clean but the stuff you normally put in the rom just have them as CABs to be run with UC. this seems like the best possible idea so there users can 100% customize their roms.

Ive mentioned it to some of the other cookers but the idea has yet to take on. I see it as the easy alternative to people who cant cook their own rom but want something they can still customize.
