Ok here's the deal: there is no NAND Flash memory in the HTC Touch Pro, since it uses removable SD cards instead. If you're a TP user and click that box, you're wasting your time (but not hurting anything either).

However, the HTC Touch Diamond does use NAND Flash technology, 4 gigs of it in fact, since it does not have SD card accessability. I haven't tested this, but I assume clicking that box on a Diamond will wipe your 4 gig flash memory.

You'll note the option to format NAND flash isn't available on stock TP ROMs. That's because it's useless and confusing. Since many ROM chefs here develop for both devices, it's most likely a function brought over from their work on Diamonds.
