if the phone was branded verizon and the esn was added to sprint. the esn is still on verizons network they dont erase it, they dont even know its been used on another network unless u tell them! i know verizon over the air activation will probly over write old settings!! no harm no foul!!!

Re: Alltel Touch Pro to Verizon, please help.
Just FYI, OTAP does not change all settings required for all services to work. All that OTAP does it program the MTN (your number), MIN (mobile inventory number), default SID (system ID) and PRL. As far as MIP settings, it will only change the MDN part, not the domain. It is easy enough to get a Sprint phone working on Sprints network, a bit harder to get a Sprint phone working 100% on VZW's network. I don't know why some people have such problems, specifically with data in most cases. Assuming all settings are correct, either having a tech reset DMU keys in the AAA while the battery is pulled on the device or forcing 1X to write the HA/AAA keys should work. If not the first time, within the first 3-5 attempts. I have done dozens of phones, both my own and others, and this is always the case.

Re: Alltel Touch Pro to Verizon, please help.
Any CDMA phone, regardless of brand CAN work. The problem with Alltel devices is that they are now loaded in the VZW DMD but are restricted to Alltel markets (accounts that are still on Alltel plans/coverage). Prior to this they were not loaded and could be loaded into the DMD as anything (like a VZW TP) and could be activated. A friend of mine had a contact in VZW HQ IT that could change them in the DMD from Alltel (restricted) to VZW but said that he stopped doing it and hasn't found anyone else willing to do it. In short, it can be done, but because of the merger it has made getting Alltel devices working on VZW accounts nearly impossible unless they were allready loaded as a VZW device prior to the merger of the DMDs.

and to kill the thought that once a sprint or whatever branded phone u have has been activated on another provider it cannot be reactivated on the orginal carrier! the week i have activated a sprint branded touch(6900) and touch pro back on sprint during the time i was selling them even tho they had been used on my verizon account! the only problems i ran into was data! to make it work the 10keys and aaa had to be repushed to the device by a sprint tech!! i did not mention verizon activate at all during the process!! |
