There are a few cab's floating around as well... http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...17&postcount=4

Keep in mind, forcing it to EV only will make make the phone unable to receive calls ro texts. 1x has no downsides aside from slow data rates.

Re: Maximize battery life...

My battery life improved from about 2-6 hours per charge to a full day when I flashed the US Cellular radio and then flashed to Merdinh's rom. I couldn't believe my eyes!

Red face Re: Maximize battery life...

Thanks RonDutt. I also found a cab that does the registry edit here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...7&postcount=13

I have great coverage so don't really need to change the radio and love how my Pro is set up now so don't want to change the rom either (though I'm sure these two things could solve all of my battery life problems). If forcing 1x will improve my battery life - dare I say - my Pro will be "perfect". (Until I find the next great hack/tweak/app/theme)

Merdin's 6.5 ROM did it for me also.

I had pretty much given up on battery life & just started carrying a spare fully charged seidio 1500 battery with me at all times. I also stuck the phone into a charging cradle everytime I was near my desk.

I swapped to Merdin's 6.5 ROM a few weeks ago & my battery life has increased so dramatically that I am finding it hard to believe. I have used the telus radio for months & with that & this ROM, I haven't had to swap batteries in over two weeks now (& I'm not using the charging cradle either)

Re: Maximize battery life...

You guys will prolly rip me for this, but I've had my TP since December and have loved most everything except the crappy battery life.

I've tried most all the tweaks and would still be below 50% by lunch time each day.

For ****z & giggles I decided to start turning my screen off when not in use (I actually set my S2U2 to power off after 30 seconds) and low and behold my battery life has increased more than anything I've ever tried (sans data off after 1 min.)!

It turns out by simply keeping the screen turned off when not in use helps battery life tremendously.

I always thought calls, texts, etc wouldn't come in when it was off, but the phone wakes up whenever necessary, including scheduled data checks.

Some of you may already power off the screen when not in use, but for those that don't give it a try.

Re: Maximize battery life...

Regarding this 1x thing - if this works, is there a way to toggle back and forth easily?

I'd consider this forced 1x usage thing but only if I could easily switch back and forth as there'd be times I would still want the EvDo connection.

(similar to how we have those programs that toggle Bluetooth & Wifi (i have both of those in my start menu))

Re: Maximize battery life...

Does anyone have a problem with being in a poor signal area? I'm visiting Tacoma Washington and the place where I'm at during the day has horrible signal. (Roaming or not)

So it's constantly changing from roaming, to non-roaming, to no signal. Everytime it switches it turns the dang screen on while it's in my pocket. This happens about every 2 minutes or so. So, basically my screen is on the entire day! Doesn't last more than 4-5 hours, even if I don't use it. I really don't want to turn my phone off for the entire time I'm away from a charger.

I've tried roam only and home network only but it doesn't stop it from turning the screen on. It only happens when I'm in this one place on the air force base. It's crappy.
