Re: Maximize battery life...

SMS goes over 1X on Verizon, MMS I haven't checked but I'm guessing it will trigger it. Whenever I send a text or receive one, my phone flashes 1X for a second or two if I'm on EVDO.

I started the day off at 100% and during a regular work day by the end of work i'm usually at ~30%...right now i'm about to get off work at 66% battery left.....so thanks to everyone in this thread....i dont know how it works, dunno why it works...but it works!!

Re: Maximize battery life...

It works because EVDO isn't active 24/7 over the 3G connection, it juse uses 1X which hardly uses any battery. Agreed, its a GREAT improvement.

Re: Maximize battery life...

Should I install the .Cab file on my Alltel touch pro? Will it even make a difference?
I tend to keep my data plan on in school, just because I use my email a lot, and Im on the internet a lot.. Will that .cab file help? What exactly does it do?

Re: Maximize battery life...

The cab, as far as I can see, does nothing to help battery life. It makes the polling of the battery meter higher (negative effect) so you see the battery life drop in smaller increments. Rather than you seeing 100% now and 90% in ten minutes, you see 100% now and 99 in 1 minute, 98 in 2, 97 in 3...etc.

Re: Maximize battery life...

When I first got the TP in Dec it was lasting about 16 hours. The PRL then was 30031.

Late Jan early Feb my battery was lasting about 10-12 hours depending on useage
the PRL was 30033, my first Alltel PRL push.
Then all of a sudden it was only lasting about 4 hours. about 3 days later, I started looking
around for what changed on the phone. I found that Alltel pushed another new PRL to
my phone 30036. This Alltel / Verzion thing in my area. My office sits about 100 feet
from the base of a Verizon tower and the Alltel TP only was lasting 4 hours.

I rolled my PRL back to 30033 and my battery was again giving me close to the
old 10-12 hours ... Kinda wonder if a SID push is in there.

I traveled to northwestern NY and put 30036 back in the TP for the aledged roaming evdo
enhancement, well the the battery went back to hell in a hand basket with 30036,
about 4 hours and TP was about dead.

When I returned to the Alltel the coverage area, put 30033 back in and the battery went
back to 10-12 hours..

30033 (no Sprint EvDO roaming)
30036 (with Verizon and Sprint EvDO roaming)

PRL's should not have a thing to do with this when I am in my home SID, but it is working for me.
This also worked for another Alltel TP with same problem in this area.
