Thanks all for helping me ensure the TP was the best choice for me. I'd rather have choice in roms than just a few features like camera or screen size.

Now just have to find a way to make the FM radio work in the TP and it will be handsdown better than the Omnia lol. (wishful thinking)
FM radio lol. I think I used that twice on my Omnia but couldnt stand the sound quality , afterall it is FM radio

I went with the Alltel TP two weeks ago and it's great. I replaced a Dell v51 and razor at the same time.

basically omnia is faster than touchpro, doesnt have a keyboard, has a better camera, less buttons, no dpad (the center button works as one but not very well)
i wish i could tell you which one is better but i havent used an omnia for more than 5 minutes
i would go with a touch pro if you plan on doing any flashing or heaving typing
the omnia is a better multimedia phone though

How do you figure that?? One of my co-workers has an Omnia & we have yet to find one single thing it does better than a TouchPro.

My Sprint TP running Mighty 4.16 & activated on VZ basically blows away the Omnia in just about every category (speed wise, my TP is WAY faster). The bigger Omnia screen would be nice except the Omnia resolution sucks which is readily apparent when they are run side by side.

I doubt he is going to keep the Omnia at this point.

oh really? my friend has the touch pro and switched to the omnia and he said once he tweaked it it was great! and im comparing it to the vzw touch pro not sprint
and now that you are able to flash a rom to the omnia it will only get better
i would never trade a touch pro for the omnia im just saying this
doesnt the omnia have a much better chipset? or am i just crazy
and it handles videos, and games much better (wouldnt that be considered multimedia)

That's definitely MM. I wouldn't know about games, I don't use my phone for that but the TP video is pretty similar to the Omnia.

I play h.264 encoded videos in WMP (I have nine gigs of video on my 16 gig card) & it works perfectly.

Re: Alltel TP vs. Verizon TP stay or go?

Well like I said it is purely a matter of preference. The bigger screen on the Omnia is nice but once you compare it side by side to the TP , you'll never be happy with the Omnias resolution again, lol.

The Omnias chipset is faster at 624MHz but I didnt notice a significant difference. I did also see the first Omnia i910 custom released which is exciting but the Omnia will NEVER have as many to choose from as the Touch Pro already has

I would say that is where the Omnia exceeds the Touch Pro is it's muntimedia capabilities , and the Touch Pro is more business driven.

I know people are saying the Verizon TP has a different chipset but I'm not sure how that effects my running cooked roms like wm6.5 and such.

Is there any "major" difference between the two phones I need to consider? I really need help deciding which path to go. Thanks!
DO NOT go get a VZW TP. The RAM is a huge difference. I can't even run Garmin on the VZW one because with a custom ROM, I'm sitting at almost 90% in use. The things a freaking door stop.

Get the Alltel one. You should keep an alltel contract anyway to bring to Verizon.

Yes I give up lol. I can get it down to 75-80ish when I cook one, but I have to have Office, Opera etc so space gets used quickly. It uses the same memory for Ram as it does the OS.
