Re: For those with battery issues

I was having ridiculously short battery life - 6-8 hours, moderate use. I just recently changed the send/receive delay on each of my 3 email accounts from every 5 minutes to every 30 minutes... and am getting much much better battery life. Every day this week it's still been at 80% after 8 hours at work (and light use)... before this I'd have it down at 30% or 40%.

Re: For those with battery issues

I fly electric powered rc helis, and I can tell you that magnets and li poly batteries have no effect on each other, unless harnessed through a motor, then the EMF causes things to spin.

Generally the motors on these helis have very strong permanent magnets and they are usually located very near the main battery pack. Of the thousands of pro heli guys I have talked to, nevfer have any of themalluded to any kind of interaction between magnets and battery life.

So, I hate to say it but the rep was full of BS.

As for quality control issues, there are so so li po batteries, there are excellent batteries, and there are crap batteries. Guess which ones cost less? Guess which ones HTC probably buys in bulk? On my Apache and Titan, I scabbed in a decent battery from the RC store, where they are expensive but have astronomical current carrying abilities (not so important on a phone, but usually means higher quality battery) and the batteries on them would last nearly twice as long as the stock was ever even designed to.

On our Touch pros, the batteries get hot, which is not good for the life span of a lithium based battery. They get hot since they are probably the cheapest thing HTC could find and have terrible internal resistance, which causes heat when charged or discharged. I imagine these batteries are only rated at about 5C (C being a discharge amount equal to the mAh capacity of the battery. A 1500mAh battery would have a 1c discharge rate of 1.5A) Now days 30-40 C rating is a decent li battery. Higher ratings mean higher quality, longer lasting and less heat.

Re: For those with battery issues

Ok, well i dont consider 200 text messages and hours of internet in a few hours heavy use, thats insane use haha. Here is a breakdown of my recent use:

My phone was 100% charged right about 24 hours ago. Since then I have done about 95 min of talk time, 31 text messages recieved, 29 replies, 17 emails recieved, 12 replies, 15 minutes of internet and 10 min of GPS, 8 hours of standby time while asleep and dropped 10%. I consider this moderate use and as I said, my pohone will go 24 hours or more before having to charge. As of now, my phone is at 30%

that is considered light usage by me. Is this on stock ROM without battery tweaks? How often do your emails get synced? Signal strength in ur area? These all affect battery life tremendously. My phone can go around 24 hours with that kind of usage, and thats pushing it.

Thats crazy, with almost nothing running, airplane mode on, it dropped 5% just sitting there while i watched it. I turned the backlight down to about 50% and that helped quite a bit. But as for saying you guys can get 24 hours.. i have to call bullcrap!

I will be getting a new battery though, not sure if theyll let me keep this one or not.

LOL, I agree 100%. I can never understand why people do this, but it happens every single time one of these battery life threads comes up (& they come up all the time because the battry life is terrible)

I always laugh because you read 30 posts in a row saying they barely make it through a days moderate use & then some bozo posts that "this awesome ROM I'm running makes my battery last for 4 days" Yea right.............

Re: For those with battery issues

there is quite a difference between 1 day and 4 days dont you think? I am not asking for you to believe me that I can get 24 hours on light usage. Sometimes when I am at work, my phone just sits there, I work from 1 Pm till 11 PM and usually take off my phone 11 AM when I wake up, at the end of the day I am still at 60% or so. Since I do physical work I am not on my phone, I do not make many calls, browse the web, nor use GPS, but I do receive texts as well as have my email downloading every 2 hours from 2 different accounts, and i can say it DOES last 24 hours in this scenario. So before you go and call me a bozo, make sure you know what you are talking about. But then again, i am not asking for you to believe me, but i am saying it does happen .

Re: For those with battery issues

Why would people lie about how long their battery lasts? I couldnt give two craps less let alone make up lies about it. Just letting people know they most likely have defective batteries if their phones are dying 8-12 hours while hardly touching it. That is NOT normal.

@xgm541
Stock Rom, emails every 30 mins and pretty good signal here.

Re: For those with battery issues

someone please close this thread. I believe that everyone here knows the truth and are all clear as to what the truth really is.

Bottom line is if my battery is going to give me 4 days of life, I will have to have it plugged in for probably 30 hours of those 4 days.
