They can even see that the device was once working on my account and they still wont add it....

No go.... My recomendation? Avoid the hassle and get he device added before you do anything. It is an uphill battle. I've been without my touchPro for ~3weeks and im having separation anxiety haha.
I am now looking into other more nefarious methods to get my touch pro working again.
Ok wow 3 weeks..I tryin to get mine going in a few days so i've been calling like a mad man. Seems I gotta be in for the long haul. Anyway, what about the option of an esn changer (I was doing a little reading) where the esn/meid could be changed to a new one that would resemble an esn that htc would give a verizon touch pro or something? (because I heard they are manufacturer specific) That way it they might be more willing?

You're not gonna find any help here on that subject. (if you read through this thread, you will find other members asking similar questions). Any question containing the words "ESN" and "CHANGE/CLONE" in the same sentence will not be answered per PPC Geeks rules. Sorry man. Try google.

Re: Sprint TP on Verizon UPDATE! (NO LONGER WORKING)

even through verizon said that they would reprogram my phone for their network today I recieved two emails stating that they are not going to allow my phone on. When the TP2 comes out I am leaving verizon.

This is Jan again, and I wanted to provide a more in depth explanation, so you would understand the reason for the denial of that phone.

Stephen, Verizon Wireless understands the customer’s needs to have open access firmware in the phone, and not use phones with the Verizon Wireless firmware, however we have the Verizon Wireless firmware in our phones for more than just one reason. The utmost is the security of the Verizon Wireless network.

Many open access firmware opens the gate to customers GPS locations that can be tracked by others without permission, enable phones to hack into security codes of the code division multiple access power band, and will not work with many digital applications that Verizon Wireless uses. We stand behind our products and firmware to keep the network secure and our customers safe. Until the LTE format is fully operational, you will not see open firmware phones on Verizon Wireless unless the phone is approved by our technical staff first.

[FONT='Times New Roman','serif']My name is Jan, and I truly apologize that you did not receive a response to the other emails you sent.

Stephen, it appears that you had stated your were going to take the phone to the store regarding the issues with having the phone technicians. I am sorry that you did not receive a response to the emails in question.

I do want to assure you it is the same team that processes your second or third email, as handle the initial email you send. As was stated in John's email, the limitations of a phone from another carrier can be frustrating, and I am sorry that the process was not clearly explained to you. To be honest with you, the occasional activation of a phone from another carrier is not common, which may have caused some confusion with the initial communication you mentioned.

I have escalated the question about your ESN from the Sprint phone to our firmware specialists, and have been advised this particular equipment is not approved for use on your network, and the ESN was removed from our database. This is why the phone worked for a short while, and than did not. Because this phone does not have the firmware that is compatible with the Verizon Wireless network, it could possibly harm the network. I am sorry that you will not be able to use this phone on the Verizon Wireless CDMA system.

Again, I apologize for the frustration this may have been to you. We value your business, and thank you for being our customer at Verizon Wireless since 1998.

I feel exactly the same, verizon could care less about their customers and would like you to use their phones so they can nickle n dime u on things like GPS.
"Your aGPS works so, the gimped version we unlocked without aGPS support is what we would like you to use"
I love the use of fear tactics to use as an excuse to not activate the phone.

Did you try flashing the new VZW Rom and notifying them that the phone does indeed have Verizon firmware?

Re: Sprint TP on Verizon UPDATE! (NO LONGER WORKING)

yes, I updated the ROM and PRL to verizon and used qpst to get all the settings ported over from my xv6800. the agents actually wrote on the exception form that it has the verizon rom and noted that it was previously on the account.

I wish verizon would just take the phone update it to their current supported ROM and settings and send it back to me so I could activate. Seems like the best solution to me. They keep a customer I get a better touch pro and don't have to wait till Nov to use my upgrade.

So I have relisted the phone on craigslist so homefully someone will take it off my hands and I can get my money back on the deal. I noticed that if you purchase your phone through the HTC website they are often cheaper then going to the carrier direct. so when the TP comes out I will have to decide wether to go with sprint or ATT and sign up for a new plan.

Post Alltel TP supported by VZW but not Sprint TP with VZW firmware?

Funny that VZW acquires Alltel, a wireless company with compatible CDMA standards and equipment, including the HTC (RAPH800, right?) Touch Pro which they support. But they can't support the Sprint Touch Pro with flashed VZW operating firmware?

Anyone else thinks that the FCC and particularly the FTC might be interested in VZW attempt to wiggle into a cave concerning their Open Device Initiave announced in November of 2007? If documented correctly, VZW could be compelled by either Commission to anser some very sticky questions about monopolistic behavior and restraint of access to a government licensed provider.

Look at it this way, the highway contractor or even toll road operator cannot tell you which cars to drive on their highway, only that they must meet legal requirements designed by public (not private!) authorities. the wireless carriers are in the same boat, and if each of us were to puch by registering a complaint, they would open up via Commision requirements.

VZW just lost a 21 year and a 16 year customer over their ignorant arrogance.

Re: Sprint TP on Verizon UPDATE! (NO LONGER WORKING)

There is a stark contrast between what verizon _says_ and what verizon _does_. Out of one side of their mouth, they say: "Any device that meets the minimum technical standard will be activated on the network. "

However, we've seen them tightening down on what they actually allow.

Re: Sprint TP on Verizon UPDATE! (NO LONGER WORKING)

Aright, just a thought but has anyone had any success stories of getting the their esn added and the whole operation after the *228 "fix" (I hate even calling it that)?
