Re: How to hard reset WITHOUT using the stylus, reset button, or the "clear storage"
Have to say, having done it both ways over the past few days, I bet most people do not hold the keys long enough for the reset message to pop up on the screen. I had to re-do it the first time I tried it using the hard keys method.
BTW - it is page 126 of the hardcopy manual - page 134 of the softcopy PDF. |

Re: How to hard reset WITHOUT using the stylus, reset button, or the "clear storage"
On my TP to hard reset need to "Hold power button-volume down-center d button-and put the stylus in reset hole" talk about needing some hand coordination. Don't know if this was a joke from HTC or Sprint. But "haha" on them because it can be done.

Re: How to hard reset WITHOUT using the stylus, reset button, or the "clear storage"
Stylus isn't needed for hard reset. Only time to use the stylus is for a soft reset, or to enter Boot Loader mode (with phone off, Volume Down+Stylus in soft reset hole+then Power button).

Re: How to hard reset WITHOUT using the stylus, reset button, or the "clear storage"
Soft resetting with the stylus is the MAIN reason that people will post about how their "reg edits aren't sticking", or why you'll see how-to writeups where they recommend waiting 1-2 minutes before resetting. Using the reset button to reset doesn't guarantee that everything in the write buffers is flushed.
If you use a soft reset application, it's a non-issue. Quote:
Follow the same instructions as above, but without holding the center button. |

Re: How to hard reset WITHOUT using the stylus, reset button, or the "clear storage"
It kind of baffles me that there is still confusion on this. But you are probably right, people are not holding the buttons down long enough for the hard reset to happen.
