Re: HTC Touch Pro Keyboard not working

EditQuoteReplyHmmm. Ive had the issue since maybe early feb. Thought it was just my device b/c noone mentioned it in any of the forums. Long story short id have to do the battery trick and keep pressing the sleep button over and over for the keyboard to start working. Sprint wouldnt replace it at first cuz everytime id bring it to the store the keyboard would conveniently start working after they hard reset the device. Im thinking it could be an issue with having freeware and it could be one of the applications b/c my new one jus did it this morning. It eventually gets worse and worse until the keyboard stops responding all together. So are there any cabs to download that resolve the letters repppppppeating or the keyboard not working at all like they did with the mogul?

Re: HTC Touch Pro Keyboard not working

same problem here, happened once and i had to pay near 60 bucks for a new phone since i dont have that bull**** insurance. I'm not paying a monthly fee to get my phone replaced when it breaks every 2 months. I'm going to tell them to refund that 60 bucks i paid last time, or give me a TP2.

Re: HTC Touch Pro Keyboard not working

yea my pro did that too. so i took it in, they popped out the keyboard and replaced it and its worked fine ever since... dont matter if you dont have ins. thats not your fault or anything you did... isnt insurance if you damage it, like dropping it in water, stepping on it, droping it and cracking screen? shouldnt need ins. since its the phone and not you...
and no its not freeware that causes it, i have the same programs and then some i had when it got f-ed up... its the magnetic strip/connection that the keyboard has to connect to the phone, seems to get faulty or loose.. have them replace they keyboard, if that works, dont get a new one that will possibly do it to.. just have them put in a new keyboard and see if that fixes it. :u

Do you have to flash to a stock ROM before you bring it in...I don't want them to refuse to service because I have flashed to another ROM and installed a ton of random CABs

Re: HTC Touch Pro Keyboard not working

I just had to replace my 2nd TP for keyboard issues.

It started about a week ago, it would sometimes miss characters when I was typing... I figured I just wasn't pressing hard enough, but I didn't make any changes to my habits.

After a few days of this, the problem started getting worse. Also, it would act as if I were holding keys and repeat them. It started only doing a few, but that too got worse. It ended up being where it was missing most of my keystrokes, and the ones that it didn't miss, it repeated for up to 45 seconds. A soft reset would have the keyboard working for few keystrokes but the problem would immediately reappear. Shortly after this, the keyboard completely died.

I took it to a repair center, they opened it up and checked the plug on the keyboard I guess. It worked when they gave it back, that was all I cared about. Took it home and reflashed it. About an hour later the problems reappeared. The phone worked overnight, it sat on my desk and wasn't touched. When I opened it up in the morning, the keyboard didn't work any more. Sprint replaced it today.

Re: HTC Touch Pro Keyboard not working

So my TP will have a huge delay and then pump out 20 keystrokes if I pause and that is if the keyboard will even work at all..I assume I should take it back to the sprint store.

Anybody show me where to get a stock ROM? Please post a link...

Thanks for all the advice!

Thats how my keyboard started to go out, and yes you should take that back to the Sprint store. I actually just replaced the keyboard (entire front housing) and mine works perfect now, but thats how it started for me.
