Re: Alternative to Tinting batt cover.
lmao thats messed up. at any rate, I dyed mine black and my gf's purple. we love them. turned out perfect and dont bleed at all. I handle my phone about 2 hours a day and my gf about the same. not sure what everyone is doing to make their dye run, but mine doesnt. im not sure I like the shiney look that clear coat creates.

Re: Alternative to Tinting batt cover.
First attempt didn't go so well, I think I put to much on cause bubbles started to form in the shape of cracks, if that makes sense. Anyways, I scraped it all off, and it was even lifting up the original gray paint from the cover as well. I'm gonna keep the cover I messed up on, sand it down to it's base plastic form and give it another go tomorrow.

Re: Alternative to Tinting batt cover.
Do me a big favor and post a picture. I have seen almost all paint anomalies.Chances are that I can id your problem. Please post a pic before you strip it down.

Re: Alternative to Tinting batt cover.
Oh wzit. you stripped it already. If it bubled then you has some oil contamination on the surface. Or a bad reaction on the paint by mixing 2 types of different paints.

Re: Alternative to Tinting batt cover.
I suspect it was that latter. I used gloves like suggested. The crack shape bubbles, formed mostly around the edges of the cover and the edges of the camera cover in the middle. When I scraped the bubble sections off, the enamel did stick to it underneath, so I supsect there shouldn't be a problem putting it right onto the plastic base. Sanding it down and trying again should work just fine, I'll give it a go later tonight and post results, or failures, again.

Re: Alternative to Tinting batt cover.
Hey, anyways... my 3rd attemp at a yellow brown usedbattery cover I got I tried a different method. I decided to just wash the cover and spray it with clear. I skipped the scuffing part. Scuffing is so the paint sticks better. SO anyways. I gave it about 8 thin coatsand 1 final thinck coat. All withing a 1 and 20 minutes. I let it dry for 2 days since it was a thinker coat. I finally was able to handle it and since it was a think coat it did not need no wet sanding. It was all nice and smooth. SO anyways, Iused it on my pro all day and by the end of the day I notice the clear coat was soft and not hard. This means I put too much coats and not enought curing time. SO anyways, since it was still soft it ended up getting nicks and dips and finger sprints. SO I decided to see it it peels off easier since I did not scuff it. Well.... I was able to lift a corner a bit and it peels off completely without much effort. So after I peels off the whole clear coat I noticed that the bit of peeled off clear paint was a bit yellow, and not totally clear. Then I noticed the battery cover was very silvery not lost all the yellow brown color it had due to regular use.So its was a bit weird. Looke like some chemistry happened. Now I have a used battery cover almost totally silver again. There was another thread where ppl were asking how to get red of the yellow brown color the battery cover get after a months use. Everyone said soap and water dont work and theres no solution. Well..... there is. Paint it clear and let it dry and peel the clear off and its silver again. LOL. I know its not worth the time but its a nice fact to know.
