with phone fusion it doesn't run in the backround. when you go to running programs phonefusion will not be there. When you get a voicemail phonefusion automatically opens up.

Is this a visual voicemail program, it sounds like they send a text with the words, or the mp3 file with the voicemail goes to your email, but it doesn't seem like actual visual voicemail, can we get some screen shots?

Re: How To: Set Up Visual Voicemail on your Sprint TP for Free

no screen shots, with the switch to YouMail, I have to pay 3/mo and I haven't set it up yet. when it was gotvoice (free version) it would only check like 3 times a day, and you had to listen via web page. it would just send a txt &or email notification.
but yes, with youmail it should send the mp3 in email, and you can have it translated to text for a few more bucks.
I don't have any idea what "visual voicemail" is like, I'm allergic to apples

Re: How To: Set Up Visual Voicemail on your Sprint TP for Free

Finally got the Visual Voice Mail thing going, the tech that I spoke to said that it wasn't free because PhoneFusion charges Sprint $0.20 a call and they pass that on to the customer, I'll see what happens after my first billing cycle!!! Thanks for the great hint on getting visual mail, much better feature than calling everytime to check your voice mail just so you can hear someone say "Call me back" DUH!

He wanted me to reset my phone, but I was on it, so he said "oh, thats why it isn't updating. If it doesn't work after you hang up, call back when you are on a land line." (He obviously didn't know what he was doing -lol)

#2 Call:
Said I want to change "Default Voicemail". He said "no problem" and immediatly asked for the new number. Put me on hold for 1 min, then said his supervisor said they can't do that because it circumvents their $0.20/min forwarding charge. I said the other guy tried to do it and asked what it was currently set to. It was 11+my-phone-number still, so the first tech didn't change a thing. (???)

#3 Call:
Said I want to change "Default Voicemail in your ESM system". They guy said no problem and immediatly asked for the new number. Put me on hold for 1 min, then said "I can't change the default voicemail, I can only change conditional or unconditional" (did not mention the word "forwarding" or any charge). I said "conditional I guess, but I was told to have you change the default". He said "sorry, I can only change conditional." I said "ok", and 30-seconds later he said "done, is there anything else I can help you with?" I said "nope, thanks" and hung up.

I hope I don't get charged. If I do, I can honestly say the tech said absolutly nothing about any charge or even the word "forwarding". We will see.

I think I will though, because it is not the default. The "default voicemail" is not called conditional or unconditional... it is a 3rd type... right?

Anyway, it's working and I love it. I set the Home-Tab left softkey to "Voicemail" and had it run the app instead of "Phone" which is the same as pressing the hardware talk key. I hope I don't get charged.

PS: I'd love it more if...
1) It showed contact name and picture, plus had an internal player with progress bar instead of launching Windows Media Player Mobile
...does any one know how to make it at least launch a different player?

or 2) It just forwarded to GMail and I could some how tell the phone to only auto-download attachments from FVM.

or 3) It just simply sent an MMS with the voice mail from the callers number. That would be awesome!
FYI: I got charged. I turned it off. They are telling me no matter what you get charged. Are there really people that have had this working for 2 months with no charges?

I don't get charged. the reason was discussed in post 172

I tried to have my girls phone set up like mine and I ran into the same problems as everyone else, they won't change voicemail numbers anymore.

Exactly, as others have said it seems sprint has sent a memo out to there reps saying that they are not supposed to do this anymore, it did work but now that so many have tried it it seems that it doesn't anymore.

This Is No Longer Free

The idea of this working is pretty much DEAD! I've spent the last week, calling in and trying every conceivable idea to make the forwarding work without charges to no avail. my latest try was to actually change the Voicemail Default number...which was my own number at the time to the Phonefusion.com number(i spoke to at least 6 reps before i found one to do this!). great service and it worked great with Youmail.com, callwave.com, and phonefusion.com, but with the forwarding charges I was getting billed anywhere from $3-10 per day! YIKES. this is a serious flaw to sprint service for all of us technical users out there but I think sprint doesn't really care since the general population don't really care(or know) about services like these. Sorry to be so doom and gloom, I hate it too since I'm a new sprint dealer and I just switched from AT&T. I now save $59/mth so if I wanted I could probably just pay the forwarding fees to sprint and be about the same as AT&T but I switched to save money! I will be getting a dealer account soon also so then I will save even more money.
Please if anyone has the silver bullet to solve this PM me and let me know otherwise I think the thread should be either closed or re-titled to NOT WORKING ANYMORE! or IF YOUR NOT ALREADY IN THE PROGRAM DON'T TRY CAUSE SPRINT CAUGHT ON AND IS NOW CHARGING.

typester:so people leave over 15min of voicemail a DAY for you? Just curious wondering what my charges would be..I'd be fine with $1-2 a day

Sometimes I don't get my real sprint voicemail for 2 days

Unfortunatley YES, by the end of the day' sometimes i have around 30-40 vm's. i use my phone for business, and i'm self employed so i use around 5000 minutes per month, usually during the day time and then a few 1000 more during nightime and weekends(i need to start using my VOIP line more often).
Sprint really just needs to get with the program and in-order to stay competetive they need to change this. there are no other carrier that charge this...even Helio by Virgin Mobile who uses sprint towers doesn't charge for forwarding.
If Sprint wants business users they need to make forwarding free or they are going to slowy loose them 1 by 1. also as people begin to use cellphones as there home phones they are going to start comparing features, and Forwarding for pretty much every Landline is also free! anyway's not trying to persuade anyone eitherway, believe me i want people to use sprint...but when pitching business' about the service forwarding always seems to come up with me.
