I think you miss understood me. so your new voicemail number is 8132000200, if you want to access your voicemail you dial that number. Before when you wanted to access your voicemail, you would dial whatever # your cell phone # is. So i'm asking when you dial your cell phone # from your cell phone what message do you get?
What you are refferring to is on the phonefusion side, i'm referring to your oldvoicemail number. you can still dial that number and what do you get?

well I just called and found out they set mine up for call forwarding instead of actually changing the number ... when I called back the girl said she couldn't actually change the number ... guess I will try again later

oh its exactly as i stated earlier: when i dial my cellphone number from my cellphone(same way i used to check voicemail with sprint) it doesnt ring and takes me to my new phonefusion voicemail. Well i hear my greeting, but i still have to type in my password to hear my voicemails. But to be clear NO i dont dial 8132000200 to access my voicemail (if i wanted to hear them in the speaker instead of playing them on the phone with WMP)

EDIT: update
It recognizes my phone, because it says "Please enter your password, followed by the pound sign".
I enter my password and i can hear my phonefusion voicemails

I understand yours doesnt do that, but u can check your phonefusion voicemails on your phone with no problem? You only have 1 number(your cellphone) set as the destination number at phonefusion?
ANd if u dont get the message i do, if u wanted to hear the messages through the earpiece, how do u hear them?

Mine does do that, thats what i mean when it says it works perfectly. but if yours is setup right, you shouldn't be able to call your old voicemail number because they have disconnected it. it seems as if when you call your old voicemail number its automatically forwarding yours to phone fusion, that may result in charges.

The only thing i had to do was go to phone, settings, then change my voicemail number physically on my phone, so that way if i have to listen to it in private, i can still do it the old way.

oh wow, i hope this isnt the case!
but why cant it be that , just like u would check your sprint voicemail, it dials phonefusion because the number to sprint voicemail has simply been changed to the 813 number?
like the basis here, is to actually make no changes to call forwarding, no answer etc,the only thing to change is the number that sprint's voicemail goes to

because to my understanding, they dont turn off sprint voicemail, u just change the number that sprint voicemail points to? if thats the case then I could see why dialing my cellphone goes to phonefusion: sprint voicemail is on, just that the number for sprint voicemail is now 813blah...
understand?

correct they are changing it to the new number you give them which is 813200200. So if they change it, your old voicemail number is gone, so by you trying to call it, thats why we get this is no longer a sprint recognized voicemail number.

but when u call it, shouldnt u be calling whatever number sprints voicemail is switched to? like basically sprints voicemail should never get a call forwarded it, because no link/number points to it

can you explain why/how if you dial your phonenumber, it would get sent to sprints voicemail when sprints voicemail forwarding number no longer is attached to your cellphone number??
Like when you call your number from your cell, or even from your house or business, no matter what, the only voicemail number to be seen is the 8132000200 number correct? Im just trying to figure out how sprint says that 813 is an invalid number on their system, because u should have no way of connecting to your old sprint voicemail correct?(cause the number has been change) how are u able to do that?

correct sprints number is no longer attached which is why we get that error message when we call. But you don't get an error message, you get forwarded to your new voicemail number you gave them. it says 813 is an invalid number because your actual phone number is still your number, but we just changed the voicemail number. Since we changed it, when you dial your number you have to access sprints voicemail service because your phone number is still tied to sprint, and when you access sprints voicemail system, your voicemail number has been changed but your still in sprints system, and since sprint is not providing you with the 813 number you get an error. When you dial the 813 directly, your not accessing sprints voicemail service, you're accessing phone fusion, i hope this explains it, but its hard for me to put in writing sorry, I was a business & engineering major, meaning i'm good at math not writing.

i wouldn't worry because he's had his for 2 months and no charge. I've had mine for over 2 bill cycles now and I have no charge, so if you're in his boat or mine your good to go. if they set it up and you can still access your old voicemail inbox then you have a problem. Kind of weird though because I called regular customer care and asked about forwarding charges just to do it, and he checked and said there were none, then I asked would you even be able to see them before the end of the bill cycle he said of course. He said he could see how much data, minutes, or any charge, even purchases thru sprint that were on my account and no forwarding charges.

Re: How to Set Up Visual Voicemail on your Sprint TP for Free

Checked back again, still no charges....
And for the record when I dial my own number I get my voicemail, like I could leave a voicemail also, I also changed my VM speed dial to 813-200-0200 and I can listen to my voicemail like that....
Also I called sprint to do it on my GF's phone, again they had no problem changing the number the first time...guess I'm just lucky...
Anyway I was curious so I started asking the Rep questions, because my GF really didn't care whether she had it or not...

I asked him if it was against policy to do this and he said he wasn't aware of reason why it would be, but he was just a Rep...:???:

So I guess it all depends on who you get but still, there is no reason this should be against there policy, they don't even mention it and many reps don't have a problem doing it...

you are right, I talked to a tech at sprint when I called and set mine up and he understood what I was trying to do and he told me that by changing the VM number you are basicaly not forwarding. the tech also said that because the way I had him set this up that I would not get charged, so I had him note that to my account. so from now on my VM # is 813200200.

I think it's all in the way you present it to the tech. when I called I said I want to change my VM # and I wanted the setting to be conditional and thats when he said he understood what I wanted to do as far as not getting charged for this.

Okay called in a third time... and the rep knew exactly what i meant when i said i want to change my default vm number. She asked me if i wanted it set up to conditional, BUT she said i will still get charged! I then go on to ask her to change it in the ESM system and she said no matter which way i spin it, its still call forwarding. Don't know how you guys are getting so lucky! Maybe next time i should just say go ahead and change it and just check my sprint bill.

Re: How to Set Up Visual Voicemail on your Sprint TP for Free

here's the loophole in sprints logic. thier argument for trying to charge .20 is that it's not in the sprint system, ect.. BUT, if the sprint VM IS in the sprint system, then why don't calls to check VM count as Sprint-2-Sprint. ;) ,but I digress.. it's not worth arguing with them, thier just like us, workers. I will try this tomarrow, may the force be with me, and all.

Re: How to Set Up Visual Voicemail on your Sprint TP for Free

So my question is when you call sprint tech, and ask them to change your VM# to the phonefussion number. Do I also need to have them set it up as conditional forwarding. Cause in my knowledge setting it as conditional for no answer and busy will result in you being charged. So is just changing the VM# enought or does it take both being changed?

Re: How to Set Up Visual Voicemail on your Sprint TP for Free

Maybe I did something wrong..but when I set up a different vm # it only worked for only one day then after that people who were calling could not leave me a vm. Some error stating that the vm is not active etc etc... called sprint back and they said that if the vm # is different from your phone # then their server will auto disable the vm. SO all in all I am going to stick with the old fashion vm till something more deffinate comes along.

Re: How to Set Up Visual Voicemail on your Sprint TP for Free

Ok, I called and had them change my voicemail number. Well, It still went to the Sprint voicemail system when someone would try to call be, but it said that Mailbox "8132000200" Is not valid. So I called back. Then I had a guy set it all back up again. This time the phone forwards to my cell, and everything works.. He said that it would cost $.20 per min. So I told him ok. I am just going to try it out.

So I have been checking my minutes, and havent seen any charges. Yesterday way my last day of the billing cycle. So I will have to check that bill. Maybe they reps are just programmed to say that any forwarding is $.20 per minute.

ok, apparently as of Wednesday the reps were told to NOT change that field in ESM, company policy. apparently sprint really does want to loose all it's customers. every other carrier out there will do this without hassle.
so what's the deal with verizon's touch pro.... hmmm...
waiting on hold for retentions..

Opened a case with escalations, waiting for call back..

Re: How to Set Up Visual Voicemail on your Sprint TP for Free

HEY THANKS i found i sprint rep who changed my number and i am not getting .20cents charge it took about ten reps hanging up and calling back for three hours on wednesday and i got someone to do it the key as already stated is the number in the esm system have them change as stated not forwarded and it should work just as the post says follow the instructions Next thing you need to do is call the Sprint tier 2 tech Department at
1-877-654-9111 then press #2.....this is the awesome part, it takes you straight to the people who know what they are talking about

Then you tell them you need to change your voice mail # to 813-200-0200, yes everybody will use this number...

Next, tell them that they should have some options called No Answer, Busy, and Unavailable and they need to set them to CONDITIONAL, this is very important, if you have it set to unconditional you could get charged .20 a minute, so tell them Conditional, and then you are done!

i had to tell them to change it in the esm system when i told them that they did it with no problems and said it is changed so i would get charged for forwarding since nothing is fowarded and i use youmail not the service in the post is it better than youmail

ps when sprint was setting this up they bcould not get the number right the rep said that it had 2 ones in their system in front of the number it needs to be one dont know if it was him or if their system uses two ones just thought i would let you know in case the get the same error i was at first invalid number thanks i be trying to get this on my phone for 2 years without the .20 cents charge
