+1, just make sure you say it like you know what you are talking about, most likely if you seem to know what yo are talking about they will do it

What I don't understand is why you have to post like you are the be all end all...
We get it, I don't need you telling me time and time again that I don't understand the process because I do
Thing is if you would read you would understand how we do it.....
So I suggest that if you want it, try back again, exactly as the first post, this way you can have it like the rest of us:mrgreen:
My intentions were not to come across like am the "be all end all". My intention was simply to enlighten and inform. I gave props to those who were successful, but at the same time let those who were about to try that it might not work and why. I posted good, factual information and I am at peace with it. Anyway, we seem to have reached an understanding so I'll leave it at that.

Re: How to Set Up Visual Voicemail on your Sprint TP for Free

Updated the main post with this tidbit....

EDIT: For those of you worrying about getting a charge, this is straight from the Sprint call forwarding policy...

"
Calls that are forwarded by default to voicemail or mobile messaging are not charged the standard $.20 per minute rate. Calls received when you set unconditional Call Forwarding (*72), Call Forward Busy (*74), and Call Forward No Answer (*73) are charged at $.20 per minute.
"

So as long as you just change your voicemail number with all fields set to conditional, you should not get charged

should not get charged is correct, as stated above i have had mine for a month now and no charges.
Also as a side note to anyone that does this, the instructions say to install to the memory card, but we have found out that if you install on the memory card then the program has to be open to receive voicemails automatically. So just install it on the phone as most of us probably would've done that first anyways.

To be fair, the same page also lists this as the very last bullet point:

Sounds like that clarifies on the "forwarded by default to voicemail or mobile messaging are not charged" point you quote above. People seem to glance right over this... I guess you should probably add this piece to the first post as well, since you added your quote above.

Now understand, I'm NOT saying that you can't have this without being charged (I'm sure there are ways for Sprint reps to do this, and I'm sure their system isn't perfect). What I'm saying is, be aware of the above before you use this as your argument as to why you should get free forwarding.

True, but that statement itself is vague, it could mean a number of things, like as you took it only the default sprint voicemail number, right?
Or it could mean your voicemail number you use for sprint in this case 813.......which is now my sprint voicemail number:mrgreen:

Regardless, the facts are, the way we set it up, we are not charged, so the rest doesn't even matter, the only reason I put it in the main post is for peace of mind

Well I think its been clearly stated: The Visual voice mail is free, and you dont get charged for the forwarding. HOWEVER, yes, it is possible that you might get charged. Even when I got my voicemail changed, they told me I would get charged, they said anytype of forwarding I would be charged. BUT, I have not gotten charged. See the tech's may tell u one thing, but remember its not the techs that compute ur bill, its the sprint computers. The sprint computer will see it as simply a new voicemail number. If you have them change your the number your voicemail goes to only, you wont be charged.

I too was leary aboout getting charged(of course I dont want to pay .20 a minute). But REGARDLESS if the techs say u will get charged, it its on conditional forwarding(where THEY change it, not YOU by dialing *72 or whatever),you most likely will not be charged. So again, just call back in a day or 2 just to make sure you're on conditional and not being charged. If so, cancel the service.

So far the longest that ive seen a person to leave a voicemail is 1 minute, so dont be scared that somebody will leave you a 100 minute voicemail.

Re: How to Set Up Visual Voicemail on your Sprint TP for Free

I know this is an old thread and maybe I won't be able to get an answer, but I wanted to clarify something. I called a tier 2 rep, but was informed that the voicemail can't be set to that phone number, it has to be set to be forwarded so in the end I will be charged for the forwarding. Also I was wondering how does everyone having the same phone number works?
Of course the rep could've set the options to conditional but it made no sense to me since the voicemail number couldn't be changed and it was going to be set up to be forwarded which ruins the purpose I guess...
Could anyone enlighten me a little on this?

Not an old thread LOL....

If the first Rep won't do it, call back and try to get another...

Just tell them that you need to change your voicemail # because you are using a new service and like I said if they won't do it, say thanks and try again

u saying they couldnt forward it to that number, but they could another number?
everyone having the same number to forward to is easy: by using the caller ID concept
You have to list your phone number and the lines that you are forwarding. They use caller Id to route it to your mailbox

Technically, with stock sprint voicemail, everytime somebody calls you and you dont have, the call gets forwarded(to your sprint voicemail) and they dont charge u. You're just changing that number that its forwarding too

I dont understand why a rep would say he cant forward the number, because obviously they can (they did)

Re: How to Set Up Visual Voicemail on your Sprint TP for Free

Because Sprint does not want them changing it. It's not a matter of physically being unable to do it, the reps are not supposed to do it.

Ok, I'm going to attempt this again on my way home from work. I told myself to wait until the phone fusion program recognized the caller's name from my contacts list, but F it.

When I call, I'm going to be as blunt as possible: "I want to change my voicemail service, please change the number my voicemail system is located at to 1-813-200-0200."

Sound good?

why are they 'not supposed' to do it. do u mean for free?
because if they charge .20 why are they not supposed to change it when we're paying for the change? (just for scenarios sake)

it would be better to say "I want to change the number my phone gets forwarded to for voicemail, please change ................."

Because without even asking for conditional forward, where it will answer only when u dont answer or hit the don not answer button, your phone will continue to do what its doing already, except the voicemail number is different, thats all. Like right now with standard sprint voicemail it already set up for conditional forward, which it does everytime u receive a voicemai. U just want to change that number..............

They aren't supposed to change the default vm number. They are supposed to set it up as conditional call forwarding no answer. They want you to be charged.

just a quick heads up for everyone... I really enjoy this service, have used since dec 8 successfully following the instructions with enabling conditional call forwarding etc...Well long story short i have a 63 dollar charge (that i'm disputing) for call forwarding. I asked to be escalated to retentions because i was assured by tech teir 2 that I would NOT be charged extra for the service. Retentions credited me the 63 dollars back (only because she said i was given bad "information" but said (paraphrasing) Sprint is no longer respondsible for call forwarding fees and that call forwarding OF ANY KIND incurs a 20 cents per minute and 20 cent minimum charge per call...and then asked if i agreed and understood. I argued (for about an hour) quoting the call forwarding rules posted on their site. I argued some more. I lost. They reverted to sprint vm. This sucks. Check your bill.

btw have sprint simply everything 99 with tep on two lines (their most expensive plans I'm aware of) they didn't care .

Thanks for the heads up, I was about to try this and I've had so many issues with them and currently have one ($270+ travel minutes), that I would hate to start another one. Anyway I dunno if they use to give the same warning but the warning he gave me can be used against me in the future if I was to argue about forwarding fees. I'd like to know if anyone who hadn't been charged has started to get charged as well... I'm guessing the 63 dollar charge is pretty recent, going from what you stated before...

basically called in a second time and seemed to get a pretty knowledgable rep...i said i just wanted my voicemail changed and he said sure he could do that but theres going to be a charge..i mentioned the esm system...again he said hes not allowed to change that but he can only set it up as call forwarding and that i will be charged. i think im going to give up on this...

Re: How to Set Up Visual Voicemail on your Sprint TP for Free

yes 1 month of service...again im glad some people arent being charged and hope other people can figure it out for free. i followed instructions to the letter (the service worked perfectly) with no answer, busy, unavaileable, conditional and touched on every point i could ( explaining again im simply changing the number the vm forwarding goes to) to no avail. really i pulled out all the stops ( i have most expensive device paid full 549 for it, two lines, etc) becauae i REALLY like choosing what vm to listen to. maybe threatening to cancel would have workd but i wasnt goin there and she saw where i was headed. very nice lady but she wasnt budging. very cool service just not worth 600 a year for me.

kind of sucks for those people but definitely i'm not getting charged call forwarding fees because its not call forwarding, they actually changed my voicemail number. if you can still call your old voicemail after they set it up, then they did not set it up correctly. This is what happened to me my first month also, i had 3.60 charge. I shouldve known something was wrong because i was still able to access my old voicemail and the new one. When I called back and they fixed it, instantly when I called my number, which was of course my old voicemail number, I instantly got a message saying this is not a sprint recognized voicemail, which means it was now set up correctly. Like the post says try at your own risk, anyone who set it up correctly is definitely not getting charged.

Re: How to Set Up Visual Voicemail on your Sprint TP for Free

p slim again thanks for the find and great instructions early on, but i set it up correctly bro. You are absolutely correct it is NOT call forwarding even by their convoluted definition (even the tech told me that)... It worked perfectly for me from jump street. My old sprint vm was long gone and I got the same message you did when you got it working. I just know when i'm running into a brick wall bro. She really had no answers for any of my points but in the end she basically said," Call it what you want...you are getting charged if any of your forwarding or vm settings are changed, understand?" I worked EVERY angle, quoted from your post on sprintusers, the sprint websit,etc...believe me I didn't want to cave. Completely 100% bogus but i'm not winning this battle. I hope you continue your success with this cool app along with everyone else.

Well like its been stated before, YES its possible for u to be charged, IF they dont set it up right. And as recommended, call back after a couple days at most, to check if u are getting charged. If that bill was $63, then u probably waited a full month before you checked.

when i dial my number , it doesnt ring, it goes straight to my phonefusion voicemail

if u get that error, that probably means u didnt set up your account right on the other end at phonefusion. did you type in your cell phone number as the destination number on phonefusion site?

normally thats a sign that it doesnt know where to route the phone call to (because its not on the list of destination numbers)
