I need to look at the Telus PRI before I can really comment. Someone needs to post it. I'm not downloading the whole ROM for the PRI. Way too many files to keep sorted as it is. |

Alright, I'll post it tomorrow for sure! Just out of curiosity, can't you create a file like :http://67.228.199.237/forum.ppcgeeks...attach/zip.gifVerizon Nationwide EVDO PRL 51143 Modified.zip (3.3 KB, 20 views) but for TELUS...? Maybe it's a dumb question lol... |

I'd rather customize the PRI. The PRL patch will work for the PRL only not all of the settings. You will basically be running Sprint's settings instead of Telus. The new fix I posted gives Verizon users a clean PRI with a code sequence added for the GPS. |
Re: 12/25/08 Verizon GPS Fix v2.0
Got it working (Phase II) with Scrosler's 3rd ROM and with Google Maps. Now here is my dumb question...Do you why it wouldn't work with the ROM I created using PPCKitchen or with Nex's ROM?

Re: 12/25/08 Verizon GPS Fix v2.0
Just tested phase II - the results I've gotten so far on my stock ROM touch pro are uneven - phase II so far is the same although I'm testing indoors. It takes a long time to start seeing satellites and even longer to fix any if it does. Soft reset seems to help. Once it starts seeing more than 4 satellites AND it fixes then it works nicely with TomTom 7 and Google maps. I've tested driving with the TomTom - it was accurate although different than my TomTom6 with GlobalSat BT359 (always seems to say double the yards until turn but tells me to turn at the right time). The person who referred to priming the pump with the HTC GPS Tool had it right. It's as though my phone needs to warm up the satellite chip/antennae etc before it will work. During the time I wrote this it finally fixed. Maybe this is a good sign. If its consistent I will be happy even if I have to wait 5 minutes to fix. It's great that lllboredlll has been able to unlock this - many thanks.

Re: 12/25/08 Verizon GPS Fix v2.0
I installed v2 on scotts rom and get instant locks on 7 satelites in the HTC GPS utility, however it does not work in Google Maps. Any ideas?
okay I got it to work. For all of you that this happens to. I simply changed the settings in google maps from automatic to COM4/4800 and it worked instantly. |

re: PHASE II COMPLETE
this works great. i got phase I working yesterday and installed phase II today. FYI, in the HTC GPS tool, it seems to default back to the SIRF chipset each time I re-open the tool. but i seems to continue working just fine. It also seems to default back to 57600 baud. I've left this like this and its continues to work well also. by the way, i'm still using the stock VZW ROM 1.03.605.4. Great fix. Thanks very much. Nick |
Re: 12/25/08 Verizon GPS Fix v2.0
I have a program called GPS Viewer that works just like the HTC Tool but you don't have to change the Chip set. I will post it when I get home tonight if anyone is interested.

Re: 12/25/08 Verizon GPS Fix v2.0
I was a Phase I user. I uninstalled GC's banner cab from add/remove and then followed the new instructions on page 1 exactly and all is working.
Great Job! Excited to see if you can come up with an aGPS fix. |
Re: 12/25/08 Verizon GPS Fix v2.0
Does the roaming triangle have any effect on my bill or is it mainly just a cosmetic thing because I c an live with it if it has no effect on anything but if it is costing me money then it would probably be best to make that change when available.

I did the updated ,what i thought was phase II but still have the triangle and still can not get a fix with the GPS. I can not find the place to modify my Chip settings. I am a complete Newby when it comes to mods so anyone that can help...please do.
I did all the installs as requested and every other setting seems to be good. When I opened the GPS Tool it looks like it is doing soething bit there are no satelites on it.....anyone? |
Re: 12/25/08 Verizon GPS Fix v2.0
Bored.... I guess your alias says it all. I mean releasing v2 on Christmas!? NICE work. And a great present for all of us. We should call you "Santa" for this one! I'm VZW and if you haven't had a taker on the test, I can do that later today if need be!

Did you follow all of the steps in the first post? Try it again and see what you get.
|
Re: 12/25/08 Verizon GPS Fix v2.0
Did it again and again and I keep getting the same results...I think I screwed something up. Once again, I do not see the place to change my chip settings in the HTC GPS Tool. Can someone assist me with that? Where would i find it?

Initial GPS lock took a couple of minutes, but I'm sure it had to download the GPS almanac so that's to be expected. I had not applied any of the previous fixes, still running the stock VZW ROM. Excellent, Excellent, Excellent !!! Ron |

Re: 12/25/08 Verizon GPS Fix v2.0
I have no banner but everytihng else is the same as reported. I never called *22899 again. Phone calls are not roaming though. I activated again to see what happens. No change. all is working, no banner
This is on a fresh unaltered VZW PRI instalation after hard reset of my ROM. Used 11 fixed 9. Normal for me is used 9 fixed 8. About normal. It did lock in 4 seconds though. I dont think its aGPS but its quicker. Also have you confirmed the differnt protocals on the Radio? Could ours be differnt than a sprint device? |

Hi bored, I haven't applied your Phase I yet; however, I was one of the many people that let the customizations run on the VZW leaked rom and I stuck. I tried aGPS and HTC GPS Tool but still could not get the GPS working. Can I use your Phase II to fix the problem or should I wait for your Phase III ?? By the way, mine is XV6900. Thanks, |
Re: 12/25/08 Verizon GPS Fix v2.0
Great work bored!!
I applied the fix to my RTM VZW Touch Pro following your procedures and it appears to be working. |
Re: 12/25/08 Verizon GPS Fix v2.0
bored-
Any way you could put together a PRI for those of us that ported a Sprint phone to get rid of that roaming triangle? It persists through both your modified 1.46 PRI and the stock 1.46 PRI Thanks for the fix, though. It actually got my GPS working consistently, so far, with aGPS assist also |

Could you please export a full copy of your registry. I need it to compare to for my Phase III fix since you actually have AGPS on that device. |

Re: 12/25/08 Verizon GPS Fix v2.0
This is great. My experience with a stock Verizon phone on the base ROM is the following. I am using Google Maps to test. I HAVE to use the HTC GPS tool to initialize and find the satellites (which after the first time, it does subsequently very fast.) I then can open up Google Maps and it will connect and find satellites. This works only when using Manual Connection settings. Automatic settings never work.
I have to use HTC GPS each time I have left the phone alone for any amount of time. Google will not find the satellites on its' own. Actually, Google will fail to initialize the GPS on its' own. Is this mirroring the experience of other users? Do we have any thoughts on how to avoid this initialization procedure, of others are experiencing? ROM: 1.03.605.4 Radio: 1.-3.03V PRI: 51064 |
