I then can open up Google Maps and it will connect and find satellites. This works only when using Manual Connection settings. Automatic settings never work.
I have to use HTC GPS each time I have left the phone alone for any amount of time. Google will not find the satellites on its' own. Actually, Google will fail to initialize the GPS on its' own.

Is this mirroring the experience of other users? Do we have any thoughts on how to avoid this initialization procedure, of others are experiencing?

ROM: 1.03.605.4
Radio: 1.-3.03V
PRI: 51064

If you look at the history of this thread then you will see that people in the community are looking at gettig aGPS working on the VZW TP. If you have the Sprint TP then the aGPS works. We are all waiting. But be greatful that you have GPS.

bored,

No, I am no longer on a OEM ROM. That was what I meant in my previous post. I had been with the OEM then I flashed with the upgraded VZW leaked rom. I am not sure if the leaked ROM locked my GPS down. Since there was no OEM shipped with the phone, I am not sure how to go back.

Actually, there is a way to go back. Give me a minute and I will find the thread. But I do know that if you let the customizations run on the 6900 and go to the 2.03 PRI it will lock down your GPS.

Thanks, for the clarification. I'm VERY glad to see GPS progress getting moving. I have read through the thread, and it wasn't clear to me.
AGPS doesn't seem to be the issue. It's not a speed thing. My GPS with HTC GPS recognizes insanely fast most of the time.
The issue I was mentioning is that without loading HTP GPS before loading Google Maps (and setting Google Maps to Manual settings) there is no GPS at all.
Maybe I'm missing something about the discussion. Appreciate the insight.

The GPS has to be primed right now to be able to work. Once the aGPS is working you won't have to prime the GPS. It will be assisted by the cell towers and you will have a lock in 5 to 10 seconds.

No....There was a thread when I had the 6900 and you had to go back to the Bell Shipped ROM but not let the customizations run. Then you had to go to the Sprint ROM and not let the customizations run. Then you had to use the Ripped ROM for VZW. That got you back to the original ROM that came on the 6900. That is the 1.37 PRI.

Ok, after moving to a different location I got a better experience. Google and Live Search both come up without HTC GPS(but still have to set Google to manual settings).

Thanks again.

In case anyone is wondering, v2 fix works on a stock VZW ROM on Garmin Mobile XT....GoogleMaps has a hard time fixing. Not sure about TomTom or any others. Someone asked earlier if it worked on a stock ROM, FYI, it does.

Sprint already has GPS and aGPS on VZW. Thats what GC is running anyways.

Actually I don't think the aGPS works on my Verizoned Sprint Touch Pro. I've never been able to get a GPS lock while indoors & it takes me forever to get a GPS lock. When I was on Sprint, all of this happened fairly quickly.

aGPS works on the Verizonized Sprint TP. I got it working on mine today and I have locks within seconds of 8-10 sats. My GPS does not need to be primed and data does become active before the GPS locks.

Do these in the following order:

Leaked VZW ROM, NexVision's ROM, GC Verizon aGPS.cab, bored's modified PRI, Titan QPST gpsOne fix, and GC Verizon TP Carrier 20081223.cab.

Just so I'm not misunderstanding anything, can the Verizon TP (XV6850) have the aGPS hack with this v2 GPS fix? Also, is there a different aGPS hack for the Verizon TP as opposed to other phones (Sprint TP, 6800)?

Thanks!

No, the aGPS hack doesnt work with the v2 fix..bored is working on the aGPS fix for the Verizon TP, which should be in the V3 fix..

Re: 12/25/08 Verizon GPS Fix v2.0

So followed directions to a T and no go for me. On Verizon and apparently I can't get the GPS to work. I'm using the PPCKitchen and a custom ROM at the moment. I'm considering burning the original VZW image back on the device and relocking before trying again. (Although I'll miss my nice Apps in the custom ROM) I did have the aGPS enabled via the instructions on XDA-Devlopers at one point. Backed those out by loading up the settings I saved from the original and rewriting it to the device. No joy then either. :(

Anyone else having problems??

<< UPDATE >> 12/28/08
Ok, I forgot I had hard reset the device and didn't skip steps 2 - 5. Although according to what you mentioned that shouldn't have kept it from working. I did revert to a locked OEM ROM and after following the steps CORRECTLY and skipping 2 - 5 it appears to be working. However, the HTC GPS tool takes a minute or 2 and then I show 4+ satellites but don't get a lock for some 10 minutes or so. I've used the aGPS fix on XDA-Devlopers on my 6800 in the past and was wondering if that is worth tyring without botching up what your install does for me???

I'm checking into that because everything was fine with his ROM. He's tested extensively with my PRI's.

Some rom's have a registry issue with this update. I'm not sure the exact key. I will post it if I come across it.

I took my problem offline and PM you last night. I could not go pass step #3. I got "Error [262]; Update Error. The ROM Update Utility has encountered communication errors during the update process." More details in the PM. Since I finished step 1 & 2, I am now stuck with Sprint, even I have Verizon voice and data plan. Would you be able to advice?

No guarantee that you couldnt. You could always give it a try. You'll know after you flash if it is possible or not by opening up your dialer and looking at the icons that are visible. If one of them looks like a crosshair with an X over it, the GPS will NOT function. If one of the icons is a crosshair with what looks like a beam indicator coming off of it, the GPS CAN work.
