Do you remember the NON VGA version of HTC GPS Tool. That damn thing would tell me I am not locked but using like 8 sats.... all while TOm Tom, Live and Google were connected. Sometimes but not often it could be the other way around. I guess what I am trying to say is that I think each app is differnt but you really only need three sats for a lock. So if you are hittiong three or more and never get a lock I would always soft reset and modify location.... Of course when you finsih up with aGPS we wont have to worry either way ;c) |

Update at the bottom of post 1 for those who don't get enough signal to program after initial fix install

Re: 12/25/08 Verizon GPS Fix v2.0
I remember reading earlier in this thread, I think gc14 said it, about getting Verizon to activate/unlock VZ Navigator on your phone for a 30 day trial, and that will unlock the aGPS? And you can cancel and aGPS will still work? I don't remember correctly, but can this be elaborated on a bit?

i think scrosler was commenting on that and it was to get the gps working initially after the fix install.... some users seem to connectivity issues... it's random though |
Re: 12/25/08 Verizon GPS Fix v2.0
Installed the fix from phase one and it did not work. However, the second phase did work - got 6 satellites in Google Maps. Now, today after I tried to get rid of the banner as mentioned in the first phase I did not get responses from the GPS in Google Maps. I tried the phase two again and it does not work. Is it because it can not uninstall the CAB from the second phase?

Re: 12/25/08 Verizon GPS Fix v2.0
I installed Garmin Mobile XT today and havent had to use the htc gps tool once..I let my phone site for about 5 hours today and then tried to use tomtom7,live search, and google maps. All three of those programd couldnt get a lock or a fix..I fired up Garmin and in about 45 seconds i had a lock...

Re: 12/25/08 Verizon GPS Fix v2.0
So, when you said that I would be able to fix in another location... not so much.
I can use 6 plus satellites out in a big open area with full reception but none of them ever fix. Anyone know what's up? |

Updated the PRL as in the first post and redid the fix, it works as before - GPS locks on in HTC GPS Tool.

Re: 12/25/08 Verizon GPS Fix v2.0
I made a custom ROM that works really well for me, but this GPS fix does not help. It worked on scrosler's ROM. I can not get location to turn on, always stays as a stikeout crosshair. Do the GPS drivers that come with ppckitchen herman 20931 just not work? If so could anyone post the right drivers? I am not sure how that works. Thanks
|
Re: 12/25/08 Verizon GPS Fix v2.0
I've seen problems with PPCKitchen ROM's. You should try Scott's newest ROM. The speed is kinda unreal... over 60mb free with TF3D running.
|
Re: 12/25/08 Verizon GPS Fix v2.0
I will definitely check it out. I am all about speed... thanks

Re: 12/25/08 Verizon GPS Fix v2.0
It's well worth it and keep an eye out for future releases of that ROM. I do all of the testing in his rom's now so I can be assured there is easy integration for VZW TP users.

I recomended that people who canot get the first lock to try priming using VZ Nav. I garantee that works! You WILL get a lock ;c) It is free the first 30 days. I just left it on incase of emergencies. |

I got tons of ideas for next ROM but need time to re-organize. Conflipper hooked me up with the dream toold I always wanted but was afraid to ask for ;c) PPC Kitchen will not work with this fix. It just wont. It is a driver issue. I havent had time to part out the drivers but it can certainly be done. Just dont have tme as that kitchen does nto suit my needs. Stay tuned... eventually it will get done.... Not right away because it takes my focus off my own ROM. |

Re: 12/25/08 Verizon GPS Fix v2.0
Grah, this is frustrating. I've done the fix in order probably three times now and I can still use 7 satellites and get no fixes. Grr.

Install and run Quick GPS then fire up the HTC GPS Tool and leave it laying by a window for a bit. Sometimes the first lock is the hardest to get. You are seeing sats so the chip is functioning properly. |

I'm not a proponent of the PPCKit or eRice (or the wonderful work by 'scrosler') but the PPCKitchen 931 Herman build, set to Verizon has WORKed for me for every 'bored' release to date. (this assumes the cooked rom boots as all ;) ) Personally I think the V1 fix was the best as it appears to support aGPS (my first locks would always be under 20 sec) Great work - looking forward to V3! |

Was you able to see a live data connection for AGPS on Phase I? Or was it just better lock times? |

I only use the HTCGPS after a reflash or new release... (I do think I used to see the connection go from Open to active, but have not tested enough to say anything. (happy to try things for you (or anyone)) |
Re: 12/25/08 Verizon GPS Fix v2.0
I didn't see all of this until Phase II was already released. What was the difference between I and II?

There are also other factors like the ROM and free ram and bat strength. I always recomend locking on a fresh boot on a full battery. That will be the best results. I am positive of that. |
Re: 12/25/08 Verizon GPS Fix v2.0
lllboredlll do you want me to add Q-GPS to next release. i played with it but I am still skeptical. No positive proof eithe rway because my locks are pretty consistant. I never had any luck with it on the Titan.
Next release may be aGPS though ;c) BUt if not I plan on making a couple small patches on my current 2.1 sometime this week. I dont know when. Need to spend time with Wifey too...... Havent seen her since I got the touch pro! Well not that bad but you can see the hours that I post..... |
