Well I tryed everything and nothing works.. NueSpl 2.47 does NOT work on my xv6800 verizon version ..
and it seems if NueSpl 2.47 does not work nothing else seems to work .. so .. I am still at base one ..
need to unlock my phone .. I went to the HTC site and downloaded the xv6800 verizon latest rom
and that works .. it loaded WM 6.1 as well over my old WM 6.0, I am very happy with the real HTC update
software rom flash.. anyways after that I then tried NueSpl 2.47 again and still nothing .. NueSpl 2.47 can't
seems to load itself as the bootloader or something .. it just don't work ..

Is there another better software I can use?

You really need to post this stuff over at XDA and let someone over there try to help you. This thread is for GPS on XV6850.

Its probably something really simple. Make your request to "damager" in my thread. He will help you. Tell him I sent you.

EDIT: BTW: You just made life for GPS on your phone very difficult by going to MR1. That was not a choice move if you want free unrestricted aGPS. You just effectively applied a lock down that is a ***** to remove.

I followed the instructions here and cannot get my phone to pick up any satellites, I ran the cab files as directed and reprogrammed the phone. I checked that the location is on and still nothing. The phone is a VZW touch pro.

Did you try to use Quick GPS first before locking?

What did you use to try and lock? Which app?

Not sure I follow you as I am beyond new to all of this. I first unlocked the phone (only got it today), I then installed your loaded rom (works great btw, I hated how the phone was instantly out of the box, with your ROM I now enjoy the phone!) I then followed the instructions on the first post to a tee.

I get an error if I try and launch vznav as well "file OperaL cannot be found"

You need to install opera. The VZNav link is coded to launch Opera and not IE.

Can you tell me what instructions you followed precisely? I can help you. I just am not sure what revision of instruction you followed.

Do this....

Apply PPST fix - fone will reset.
go to settings -> phone and then turn the Location Setting to On under the second tab on the phone settings.
Start a data connection either WiFi or CDMA (VZW wireless).
OPen Quick GPS and hit download.
Close quick GPS, open HTC GPS tool.
Click right softkey menu and select Chip ->Q7500
Then click Open Port.

Watch it for 1 minute standing by a window.

Hopefully you get a sat lock in the first minute. If not... Soft reset and go back to HTC GPS tool and select Chip again and then open port again. Stand by window for one minute.

Report what happens.

No, star *228 has nothing to do wiht the locking of the bootloader if that is what you mean?

Did you try what I just posted?

1. are you sure quickgps took the download. It never works right the first time.. normally you have to soft reset and then try again
2. are you in a "bunker".... gps is line of sight dependent... sometimes you need to get to a window or even outside to get a lock

Re: 12/25/08 Verizon GPS Fix v2.0

I cand confirm this works with the OEM stock ROM. I got my VZW HTC Touch Pro 3 weeks ago with a Dec build date. I followed steps 5-13. At first it didnt work so I went into phone and enabled location on. I also downloaded the cert file as indicated on page 1. I then went to Settings >> external GPS and set the COM and baud rate. After that, it worked.

Thank you so much. It is not as good as my bluetooth receiver Holux M1000 but at least I don't have to carry that around and the lock is almost instant 5-7 seconds.

I can confirm it works with IGuidance, Garmin XT (no need to use HTC GPS Tool to start), iG0 8.3.2

Ok tried exactly what you typed, same thing no Sat lock.

I am kind of tumped. When I applied the file it prompts to replace the Raphael file.

Re: 12/25/08 Verizon GPS Fix v2.0

@gstmike:

Are you sure you're running PPST.exe? The first time I tried to do the fix, I wasn't. I couldn't even view the file through file explorer. I had to use another app, like total commander. Also, to get a lock it took me multiple attempts with GPS tool, and it took like 3 minutes, even with Quick GPS. I'm on stock ROM as well.

If you feel it's just not working, I'd suggest downloading and installing PPST1.46 cab, running ppst.exe, and soft resetting. This will remove the fix and you can start from scratch. That ended up working for me.

Hey, awesome! It worked right away on my stock verizon ROM, just got my phone 2 days ago. Get 7 sats lock in iGuidance v4.0.2. However, it is very laggy, I drive faster than it can update the screen, any thought on that? I normally use bluetooth HOLUX GPSlim240 and in doesnt lag even at 100mph. Is there a way to make internal GPS actually good, is it a software issue, maybe iGuidance isn't compatable? Thanks for your work.

How did you get TomTom 7.45 to work? Where'd you get it? I've tried Garmin but the MapSource utility didn't seem to want to recognize my device.

C'mon, I may be new to this forum but I'm no stranger to Google. I have searched. Apparently, I didn't put in the correct search terms if you are able to find it and I'm not. If you could point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated. I was able to download and install it once but was unable to load any maps for North America or voices. I'm not trying to be lazy about this, I've put in some legwork trying to find it and get it to work.

My VZ TP says hardware version 2.0
Not sure if that is important.

I am running a flash of the ppcgeeks kitchen 20931 and ran the v2 patch and ran ppst.exe, etc as specified.

when I run the HTC GPS tester it bounces from 66 to 31 back and forth. I have never yet gotten it to lock, even standing outside. FYI my Titan works just fine and locks GPS.

Is this an issue with the kitchen?

There is some native lag - about 750-1000 ms for the GPS to calculate your position and report it to the application. Seems to be a hardware limitation (i.e. we're stuck with it). Anything above that is OS - get yourself a faster ROM (www.scottcrosler.com) - it's easy. That said, I assume that the better GPS programs (Garmin, Tom Tom) are aware of this (all devices have some lag, but most dedicated devices have less lag than this phone). They probably anticipate the lag to display your position accordingly. After all, they know how fast you are going and the direction - it's not too difficult to calculate out the lag.

Re: 12/25/08 Verizon GPS Fix v2.0

Hey thanks, when I say I use HOLUX GPSlim240, it's not a standalone GPS, it's just a GPS antenna for my Touch Pro or any bluetooth enabled PC/PPC. Paired with my phone and iGuidance (btw a very good program with TTS) I have ony a native few millisecond lag. Now when I use iGuidance with built-in GPS, I get a good minute lag, if not more.

The Holux unit is a receiver - it does one thing and does it well - it calculates your position really fast. Much faster than the phone, for which GPS is an FCC-mandated cheap-as-possible necessary evil.

Well I thought I would post this after my GPS lock times degraded a week or so ago...

It appears that occasionally the address and port in QPST for aGPS will zero themselves out, effectively turning off aGPS on my Verizonized Sprint Touch Pro. I haven't been able to trace a cause yet because I don't use the GPS on a regular basis. Anyone else running into this?

Install QuickGPS. It's referenced in the first post. The first time you run it the program will fail to update the GPS almanac. Soft reset and then try to run the update again and it will work. Once you have the most current almanac run the GPS Tool again.
