Touch Pro BLANK SCREEN!!??

Same thing happened to me. My screen went blank and I could not get it back. I took out the memory card out then reset it. Now it is back on. So try taking out the card and resetting it if you didn't do it already.

I really doubt it is the rom. i have been running yay4juggs for over 1 year on 2 of my Pros and never had a problem.

The screen is now black with mines as well. Damn!! I can't even flash or lock it or nothing. I tried a hard reset and it did not work for me. When I turn it on, the 4 lights remain on at the bottom, but the screen remains black. Any ideas?

How can I send it back to Telus if I can't even re-lock it

Nevermind, thank goodness I figured out how to successfully accomplish a Hard Reset with a Telus Touch Pro.

Turn off the phone

Hold down low volume button + Middle button at the same time

Keep holding those buttons and press the Power Button and keep it down as well

Follow instructions


There is no need to pull the stylus out or even turn the phone upside down with a Telus Touch Pro like some others mentioned.

But the question of the day is, did it resolve your problems? Also, I just tried your solution and doesn't seem to work for me... Although it usually takes me a couple of times before I get things working...

OK, I want to update this and be a little more clear on "MY" blank screen.

- Sprint HTC Touch Pro
- No custom ROM
- Locked, Like it was out of the box
- No programs on the phone, but what was installed from man.
- Only thing major on the phone was my contacts.

So tonight I was heading to bed, and placed my phone on the STOCK charger = USB to plug adapter. Then about 30 mins later my wife called me. I went to go get the phone but NOTHING. I could hear the ring and voicemail alert sound.

This is what I did afterwards

- Took out the batt. = NOTHING
- Placed batt. back in and turned on = Blank but could hear the startup sounds
- Soft reset = NOTHING
- Cant HARD Reset because i cant see anything.
- Turned off and took out storage card and rebooted = NOTHING

Then I started to use my brain a little . I connected the phone to the computer using the USB cable. Launched my program Call "POCKET CONTROLLER PRO". Once the phone was sync I could see everything I wanted as if I was using the phone normally. I know this is what the program is suppose to do, but i thought since nothing was working this wouldnt work. Since it does the only thing I can think it could be, is the backlight or some other defect. Not only is the screen black but so is the following.

- Screen blank
- No light around CENTER button.
- When booted up keys dont light up on slide out keyboard
- No lights on 4 buttons around center button.

So this phone is what i called Semi-dead Oh well just take it in and see what they say.

i think best buy will be strict with their policy. Turn your phone on while the screen is blank, and try to establish and active sync connection. Then try either the stock rom, or a different custom rom. If you were using, say Sprint for service, you must use a Sprint rom. Troubleshoot, Troubleshoot. Its my life too haha

I am having the same problem as well.
My solution was to take a small chunk of cardboard and wedge it between the bottom of the battery (opposite the contacts) and the edge of the battery holder. This increased the contact between the battery terminals and the contacts on the TP. I believe this also resolved my issue with the hardware keyboard not working from time-to-time.


Every once in a while i still get the blank screen with just a back light, but by pressing on the battery door and pressing the power button repeatedly, eventually the screen comes on. I will be bringing this to a repair center soon.

My TP has been doing this for awhile, and I'm running on MightyRom5. Right now, it's pretty bad. Sometimes a hard reset works, but most of the time, it doesn't. I get the backlight still on and where you can see the light from the side of the screen. Really strange. I'm going to swap the housing out and LCD screen and see if that works. If not, then I'll be waiting for the TP2 whenever it comes out...

Just a follow up...After, not being able to turn on the phone via soft reset or hard reset, I took off the cover above the battery. You have to remove the top two screws. I cleaned the connection, blew inside, and put it back on. And everything is working now. I don't know if that really did it or not. But, it's working now. Before I put the screws back in, I also jarred the back housing a bit, in an attempt to remove it. So, maybe there was some sort of loose connection. However, I find it odd that before, the blank screen problem was an intermittent problem. Sometimes it worked, most of the time it didn't. And pressing the power button WHILE it worked, made the screen go blank and stay blank. And then it was a repeat process of soft reset, hard reset, until it worked. But now, it works after the aforementioned steps. I'll follow up if the screen goes blank again...
