Lightbulb Want MORE RAM? Disable HTC Dialer Skin
Posted this over at XDA. Thought I would share the tweak here.
VZW - More RAM / disable Dialer Skin

Want 8-12 more MB of free RAM on your horribly gimped 6850???? Just disable the pretty HTC dialer skin. The dialer will switch back to the default WM one, which to be honest, I still prefer. Little did I know the HTC skin was sucking up about 10 MB of RAM.

Give it a shot and share the results. You can use several apps like Advanced Config or Diamond Tweak to disable the HTC dialer skin, or change it manually via the registry.

Below is the manual registry tweak:
-'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / Security / Phone / Skin'
-change the value of 'Enabled' from 1 to 0.

Hope that helps make all the 6850 users smile.

okay so I now have (temporarily) a vzw touch pro. Out of the box it was very very very very slow. I ran juicy's rom (tpro2) and it was initially struggling at 94%. Now with no dialer and sktools, it is resting nicely at a cool 76% ram used
but my sprint touch pro is resting cooly at 44% epic failure
but it sorted my problems as long as I don't multi task (aka use the phone like its supposed to be used =/)

Have you tried SSk??

SSK works very well in a co-workers VZ TouchPro, the pagepool setting is more appropriate to the VZ phone.

Not ideal, but well worth the increased RAM (IMHO). I don't mind the default WinMo dialer and I almost always disable the HTC dialers in favor of it.
