Want MORE RAM? Disable HTC Dialer Skin
Posted this over at XDA. Thought I would share the tweak here.
VZW - More RAM / disable Dialer Skin Want 8-12 more MB of free RAM on your horribly gimped 6850???? Just disable the pretty HTC dialer skin. The dialer will switch back to the default WM one, which to be honest, I still prefer. Little did I know the HTC skin was sucking up about 10 MB of RAM. Give it a shot and share the results. You can use several apps like Advanced Config or Diamond Tweak to disable the HTC dialer skin, or change it manually via the registry. Below is the manual registry tweak: -'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / Security / Phone / Skin' -change the value of 'Enabled' from 1 to 0. Hope that helps make all the 6850 users smile. |

Re: Want MORE RAM? Disable HTC Dialer Skin
The Dialer is what you use to make phone calls. HTC made a special skin for it on the Touch Pro/Diamonds, but it looks like it uses a ton of RAM. You can diable it and just use the default WinMo dialer instead if you need the extra RAM.

Re: Want MORE RAM? Disable HTC Dialer Skin
in all fairness, your probably gonna get flamed for asking such a simple question, but i guess your new to the ppc world so i wont flame you.
the dialer is the on-screen numeric pad used for dialing numbers and calling people. the touch diamond and pro come with a nice white clean dialer screen, it uses up extra memory though. there is a stock dialer that comes installed on every windows mobile touch screen phone, its a generic dialer with small buttons and looks pretty ugly in my opinion. The verizon version has very very limited memory cuz verizon crippled it like they do all of there phones, so this is just an alternative to people who need to free up memory. hope this answers your question edit: sorry njmarchetti u beat me to it |
