Has anyone with Verizon got this to work?? I just got an extra apaptor(dongle) from Verizon but wanted to know before I buy a ipod cable and cut the wire in the adaptor.

Since the video out screen is showing up on your phone, I'm optimistic that you might just have the wrong cable. But you should be able to test by just pulling out slightly to see if you get an image on your TV. If you look at the picture a few pages back on this thread related to pinouts, the last pinout of an ipod cable is video. So if yours is further forward, if you pull it out slightly - you may be able to see video and confirm that you did the mod right on the adapter.

After stabbing my finger while trying to open the box with a sharp precision screwdriver, I opted to cut the jacket on the small piece of cable going from the connector to the box instead. I found the blue wire, cut it and then used heat shrink tubing to seal the cable again. It works fine although I haven't tried audio yet. The old camcorder cable I had on hand wasn't wired properly, but I found video on the red audio wire. I have tried it so far with my Redfly and it works pretty well. Interestingly enough, I have never experienced the blue flashing with Coreplayer that everyone talked about until now. I see it using the video out. It's a Coreplayer issue, though, not video out issue.

So, if you guys don't want to break the box, you don't have to.

This is the method I used to. For me, it was much easier than trying to open the box or breaking pin 4 (which I also did).

OK, I'll try to find a different cable. The one I have doesn't work no matter how I pull/push/wiggle.

i placed a very slim piece of electrical tape over the fourth pin on the multi-adapter that came with my TP from Sprint... works without a hitch... i've unplugged and plugged it in about 40 times now and it is still in place (i made it 2x as long as the usb plug on the adapter so that excess folds under the adapter... just in case i want to remove it at some time, just lift and peel)

now, i've read others saying that the video quality is great... however, it doesn't look too hot to me. i think that the output resolution of this thing is below 480 scanlines - possibly 320x240?

i dunno, maybe i am just too used to HDTV @ 1080p and gaming at 2500x1600... but i really think this looks like crap. hooking it up to my in-dash dvd player worked equally as well.

for anyone who cares, this is another confirmation that the AV cable (3.5mm) that came with my head unit for I-pod worked well... i also bought a 10ft AV camcorder cable for home use (since i installed the ipod av cable when i put in the head unit)... if you buy radio shack brand AV cables, the red audio is actually the video and white is white and yellow composite is actually audio (red).

I found a way to use audio with this hack that worked great. I had this 2.5mm to 3.5 audio converter from my old PPC 6700 http://www.seidioonline.com/ProductD...%2DXDA325M35FC that allows me to listen to audio by converting the smaller jack above the TV out to 3.5mm. IT WORKS GREAT -- when you plug the modified cable into the phone, just close the app that asks to use TV and plug your headset into this adapter. Hopefully it doesn't drain the battery more than usual, but probably the TV section of the phone is off until you choose NTSC/PAL.

On a similar note - I found out yesterday that the 3.5mm adapter I'd broken pin 4 on, I could still use for music. Have others noticed this?

At first, I connected it and checked off one of the TV Out options on the screen prior to listening to music. As soon as I made my selection I got that low interference that most people with diy cables get. BUT, I found out that if I just skip that screen by pressing the arrow button on my phone (top right on the front pad) - I could then open up my music program and start playing music without any interference. The quality was just as good as if I'd never tampered with the adapter.

My adapter never had headset out functionality - so I don't know if someone could make calls out using this method. Would someone who modified one of the stock adapters that came with the touch pro mind testing this? It would just involve connecting a 2.5mm or 3.5mm hands-free to the modified adapter.

Happy to report this cutting the blue wire worked for me, quality of video is fine for the resolution it is, though as noted by others the sound is attenuated. I wonder if that sound attenuation would be less if it wasnt for the length of the cable I have.

I did have some out of sync images until I connected the various colors as described in previous posts about the 3.5 mm to RCA radio shack cable.

Now my ultimate goal all along has been to get this to display on a set of Crystal MyVu (made for iPod) video glasses I have. My next step is to get a 3.5 mm male to 3.5 mm male to connect to the pendant on the iPod. A little worried about whether it will be sending signals to the right places as others have talked about, but will just try it and report back.

I opened up my adapter and cut the blue wire. It worked great! I was able to watch my stored episode of Supernatural (using Coreplayer) while running on the treadmill, listening on my BT headphones so I didn't have to turn the TV obnoxiously loud. Very cool!
