Don't have 15 minutes? My poops take longer than that!! I think your just skeered to do it! Man I must say, I died mine black and it came out GREAT!! I also thought about some type of clear coating but haven't snagged any ideas yet!

there's no walmart or michaels close by in seattle anyone know if walgreens carries RIT dye?

For anybody who might be experiencing "chronic bleeding/fading" like I was try the following:

1. Bring some water to a boil.
2. Lower the heat to about medium so the water stops boiling.
3. Put your dyed cover in the water for a few minutes. You'll notice the water start to turn a black/purple color
4. After about 3-5 minutes remove and rinse.

This worked great for me. Like I said, I was having problems with my cover bleeding onto my hands if they were sweaty/greasy/wet. Now it is perfect. I didn't really have to buff it after this treatment. Just wiped it down for a minute or two.

Is there a clear coat acrylic out there that we can coat our finished product? We used to use a acrylic clear coat for floors at the barracks...to get that mirrored shine...

I'm not sure if the InvisibleShield solution might make the color run...also, not practical to get several InvisibleShield sheets for multiple battery covers...for those of us that are vain and need a couple of different colors....LOL

if you want to try the clear-coat approach what you can do is go to any body shop and ask them if you throw them a couple bucks (5-10) if they can hit it with some leftover clearcoat from the car they are working on now..... most places if painting will do it for free and take pride in doing so and will do a quality job..... i cant tell you how many times i did this at the body shop i used to work at back in michigan before i moved.... (mostly nextel phones.)
