if you want to try the clear-coat approach what you can do is go to any body shop and ask them if you throw them a couple bucks (5-10) if they can hit it with some leftover clearcoat from the car they are working on now..... most places if painting will do it for free and take pride in doing so and will do a quality job..... i cant tell you how many times i did this at the body shop i used to work at back in michigan before i moved.... (mostly nextel phones.)
