Unlike others, I don't just accept is as OK/good, simply because ALL TPs have that issue. That doesn't mean I wouldn't live with it, given it's really my only convenient choice for a PDAphone right now.

Just curious, Thanks!
When I was talking about the screen I was talking about brightness/colour issues and not screen sensitivity. I have not experienced the dull shade/hue that some members have mentioned their screens seem to have.
Sensitivity on the first TP was average or poor around the left border in portrait mode and the new one is a bit better (it still doesn't seem to pick up my stylus movements at the left border of the screen...transcriber works with an 80% efficiency at best). Hope that makes it clearer.

shoot, I wish I had been more specific on the official poll--that explains why most people aren't putting the screen as defective. The screen should be the same sensitivity over the entire surface, like my Touch--hell, like every other touch screen I have ever used--ever.

thanks for the clarification, that makes me feel better--er well, I guess, makes me rest assured that I will not find a decent Touch Pro. I am so glad the Xperia X1 is releasing within my 30-day period. Thank God.

You've got some cajones, mi amigo... that's for sure. Especially with the high rate of defects on these suckers.
Haa thanks... well during this process, they secrewed up so I don't even have a contract and got the phone for 130 bucks...so no contract + 130 ( before tax and stuff) was good enough for me.

I am afraid to return my phone and risk of having my contract extended. Sure, the quality isn't as good as the perfect TP (i mean no gap between chrome etc, loud speaker ,,no raised home button), but I am happy with the outcome.

Just out of curioustiy, I went to the ATT store to check out the fuze.. man that thing's build quality was IMMACULATE! I came to think that because sprint's version is different than the original GSM design, the HTC team secrewed up the sprint's design spec.............

Yes, the Fuze was flawless in terms of build quality, including speakers... the phone ran faster, and the screen was better in the corners.

The big flop is that the GPS is LOCKED... my brother could not use GPS in anything but AT&T Telenav. Weaksauce.

Oh also, his phone didn't heat up on the charger, or during long phone calls. I tested my brother's phone by calling mine, and just walked around for 30 minutes... mine got noticebly hot, while his remained what I call "normal."

But this phone is too much for me to take. It's slow to navigate TouchFlo 3D. I've accidentally called people 6 times in the last 2 days because of lag in applications and consequently slip ups in touching the screen at the wrong time. The phone works well enough, but it has so many little things that feel "off" in terms of how I interact with it. It's hard to scroll the recent call history or my contacts with your finger. So I have to use the D-Pad, which is at the bottom of this phone.

The reason I got the phone was because I had a Palm Centro, that while very easy to navigate and fairly intuitive and fast, wasn't terribly comfortable. Plus no voice dialing, which got old. Anyway, I'm trying to figure out before I give up on the phone and maybe Sprint if there's perhaps something wrong with my phone? If there's some major tweak I'm missing. I've done a lot of the speed tweaks listed here and it just still isn't right. I go to task manager and the memory in use is something like 80 MB. That's a lot for a phone. At least it seems like a lot to me. Any help would be appreciated.
Wait for the Palm Pre to come exclusively to Sprint in the 1st Half of '09. The new Palm OS has gotten fantastic initial responses.

Those are the only other options I can see (the curve keyboard is uncomfortable to me).

About the speed of the device. What tweaks should I be making? I found a page here and went down the list. I installed Advanced Config or whatever it's called and changed large number of the settings as recommended at that site and here. Things like the touch screen responsiveness, memory allocation, etc. Still slow.

If I turned off TouchFlo 3D, what would I replace it with? I like being able to see, at a glance, that I have missed phone calls, missed text messages, etc. This was something I could always do with my centro and navigating to respond to them was very quick and easy. How would I do that off of the Today screen? I'm not being sarcastic. I'm polling for the most responsive, least resource intensive option for this.

you can always use the HTC home plug in. I used that on the Mogul before I got the TP and it worked fine..
as for the phone being slow and laggy, you can take it into sprint and they will do a free filmware upgrade. I have that done and my phone works perfect. no lag or anything.

Re: About to give up on the HTC Touch Pro. Help?

hmmm. I would say try to stick it out. I've come from an old school phone. LoL and by that I mean a Non-OS phone. (the sanyo M1)
This WM device is a totally new world for me. But knowing that the possibilities are almost limitless is the reason I am toughing it out. With a forum like this and the people here willing and eager to help you makes the problems easy to fix.
Whether its just a simple reg edit or cab install, or if you go far enough to install a custom ROM. You can pretty much fix the phone in anyway to get it working. Just do a little research and try to learn the device.
I wish ya luck man, but sooner or later PDA style phones is gonna be the standard.
