HTC is the best thing that has happened to the Pocket PC. There is simply not one other manufacturer that has brought so much innovation and quality to both hardware and software side of Pocket PC's.

I've been a Palm user since the original Palm Pilot and the 6700 was my first Pocket PC. It was far from perfect, but eventually, HTC fixes the problems, or wonderful, enterprising communities like this forum or others like XDA Devs do. That's what I love about Pocket PC's. M$ doesn't blatantly get in the way of DIY fixing like Apple does. You may complain that "We shouldn't have to fix their faulty product". But it goes beyind just "fixing". Custom ROM's and such here make it even better. Think of the alternative. Apple still hasn't "fixed" the issue of no Cut and Paste. If DIY homebrew were allowed, people would've fixed that in less than one day.
Very well said I agree

I'm not one of those people that is married to HTC and ignores problems that exist just because they have an obsession with them. HTC needs to fix these problems, and they need to fix them now. Sorry, but this type of attitude is counter-productive. For all your hostility and demands, nothing is accomplished.

Why is it so hard to just say, "Wow. Buying this thing was a bad idea, but it's still within my 30 days, so I'm going to trade it for something else that satisfies my needs and expectations." There's no other choice, you may argue, but there is. There's always other products and other carriers. Or else you say, "Because this is still the best device available, and I need to do what I can to maximize my own use with the resources available until better solutions are available."

But making demands is more irritating than anything.

On phone calls the draw was 500-580 mA.
At two points during separate data calls the current peaked at 853 mA.

So it looks like the power usage is independant of the type of transmitter which is at least encouraging for a software fix!
Thanks for analyzing! That's interesting to know. From what I've seen so far the Fuze and Touch Pro have a lot more in common than they have differences.

The thing about this poll is that people vote without necessarily even knowing the problems with the phone. You just have a bunch of fanboys defending it.

What would be nice is a poll that gave a realistic percentage of users that had specific problems with their phones, whether they "like" it or not, which is so unbelievably-subjective that I'm surprised it's a poll.

I think that most people will agree that this phone is awesome, in theory, and for those who don't use the phone enough to overheat it, I'm sure they love it--assuming they overlook the other glaring defects.

I would be willing to overlook the defective screen, earpiece, speaker, lagginess, heat, poor battery life, and build quality, if it didn't have problems making friggin phone calls, (running out of battery, even while on the charger.)

You can also say the exact opposite. If everyone was as in love with HTC as much as half the people in this forum, then NONE of the problems would ever get fixed on these phones. Companies don't respond to a problem, unless you complain. Well, some companies do, but HTC sure as hell doesn't. We've figured that out over the years with one gigantic defect/issue right after another.

While it may be true that this is the best device available, on Sprint, it doesn't mean there aren't much better/more reliable/higher-performing phones elsewhere. It seems that HTC has nothing to worry about though, because people will buy up all these phones, regardless of problems, and they will convince themselves that they are flawless...

Re: A little tough Love about battery issues.

I Had the diamond before my pro and i defiantly think the pro has better battery life. i remember taking my diamond off the charger at 9am and coming home at 9pm with maybe 1 bar left with minimal usage. With my pro i have 2 bars at the end of the day. i did notice it took a day or two to get the battery to hold the charge this well.

Not so strange. Lithium-ion batteries require several discharge-charge cycles to reach maximum performance. They also perform best when topped off regularly, unlike prior generation rechargeable batteries with a "memory effect."

Why are you still trolling in the TP forums when you announced that "BACK to the ORIGINAL Touch, after 3 weeks of hell with the Pro" you just hanging around trying to cause trouble? I have a message for you in my signature.

All the features in the world are irrelevant if they are only partially implemented. Think of all the things you can do with a TP that don't really work that well, but work enough to impress your friends. Is that all everyone cares about?
I never missed the point. The Apple iPhone is far from perfect, only Apple fanboys will say so. Have we all forgotten about the 3G problems that plagued the initial release of the 3G iPhone? All the Apple fanboys have. Of course it was more to do with AT&T's crappy network.

I laugh my *** off whenever people talk about how perfect new Apple products are. The latest Macbook Pro's, need I mention the Trackpad problems? Of course Apple will eventually fix those problems, but for certain things like Cut and Paste, Apple won't fix despite many many many people asking for it, because they stubbornly refuse to do so.

Anyways back to the Battery issue. Poor EVDO reception was to blame for my poor battery life. As soon as I changed to 1X only, my battery lasts a full day with normal use. Almost two days with light use. That is awesome given how small the battery is. (same capacity as the old Touch).

That said, the Charging problem needs to be fixed. That is definitely a defect and/or poor programming.

On the Apple note, yeah-- every one of my coworkers with an iPhone 3G has disabled 3G on it, because the lack of 3G in our area was killing their batteries within a few hours. But they're all fanatics about Apple, so they just blame the problem on AT&T coverage and worship the phone itself. Meanwhile, I demonstrated last night that everything that can be done on the iPhone can literally be done quicker on the Touch Pro, and oh yeah-- I have a keyboard and copy/paste.

On the reception issue, yeah again-- when I go to visit my mom I always have to switch it to roam-only or it will suck my battery dry.

Of all your rant, the only handset-specific "problem" with the iPhone is lack of cut and paste. Again, that is not a problem in the sense we are talking about here because you have the information BEFORE the purchase. People are playing russian roulette with the TP and that is totally outrageous. If it worked as advertised (everyone's, not just the 5 people that will respond to this saying theirs works great), then I certainly wouldn't be complaining. Can you imagine if there was a spec that said "talk time max of 4.5 hours, or 1 hour when charging, or whenever the radios heat the battery up enough, whichever comes first." But you won't see a spec like that because it is not supposed to be like that. The iPhone is SUPPOSED to lack cut and paste. The spec says it (rather a reviewer says it, but close enough) and the phone lacks it. Consistency.

I am somewhat annoyed that I am being met as if I am "another Apple worshipper." I guess I haven't given you guys much to work with as I am a new poster. I am tired of defending myself: I don't own, nor have I ever owned, any Apple products or stock. The iPhone is most likely not for me and if I deem the TP a lost case, I STILL won't be getting the iPhone. But I am not brainwashed into thinking that only WinMo products are worthy of "my leet skillz, yo."
