Re: TP locks up during sleep / charge

OK, this is the second day night where my phone has not frozen. Maybe the hard reset fixed it?

What does today timeout do?

it basically tries to update the today screen every X interval all I know is unchecking this box has made it so my alarm has never failed me. with it checked it works most of the time, but being late to work a few days out of every month is not acceptable.

I think the phone freezes while trying to do something with the today screen while the phone is in sleep mode.

Re: TP locks up during sleep / charge

another thing i noticed with bsod is that it usually happens if you have a today screen plugin that pulls data from storage card.

Re: TP locks up during sleep / charge

I have had this happen to me 2x now, and Ive owned the phone for less then a week. My Diamond never did this. I also have the ALARM on for every weekday... Maybe Il turn it off. Im using the htc charger (actully the one I got from the diamond, so its the same as touch pro). I DONT have a today screen thats pulling from the memory card. I do NOT want to do a hard reset either... I hope sprint/htc gets a update out some what soon for these little bugs.

Re: TP locks up during sleep / charge

Sager hit close.

Having "active" applications on a storage card has often caused issues with nearly ALL pocket PC class devices.

"active" means any apps that install and run resident when the OS loads, today plugins, things that install fonts, etc.

You can load "single use" programs all you want on the storage card without issues because after you close (not minimize) them, they leave nothing running resident.

The short reason for this is when the device "wakes up" and refreshes or calls those programs, the hardware that powers up/down the storage card hasn't done it's refresh and fully powered up that part of the hardware.

As a long time PPC user, this has been the cause of many unexplained lockups.

I'm not saying this is guaranteed the cause, but I've not had a single overnight lockup with any charger I use.

Yeah I've been aware of this issue and was pointing out, but thanks for the clarification. I also have a fleeting suspicion that activesync is the culprit for this kind of behavior especially if you push email enabled. There's still no solid fix for AS and it seems to have a mind of its own, starting whenever it wants, though no exchange server is configured.

Sager,

create a dummy server.
Set the schedule to manual only.
delete said dummy server.

This generally keeps AS from starting up except when YOU want it.

I use push mail, so I shall leave mine alone.

Yeah i tried that back with my 6700 and it didn't work too well - activesync would still randomly start. I'm not having problems with my TP in these regards. Haven't had a single BSOD yet, I"m just speculating on the problems others are experiencing Just a question for those who have had this problem. Have you all set up activesync partnerships with your computers?
