Well, i asked about the supposed memo at my corp store, and it is indeed real, and they are replacing my phone because of it.

GM recalled the paint jobs on their trucks in the early 90's due to chipping. You just had to bring it in and if your truck was manufactured in that specific time frame they would repaint the truck. So maybe in addittion to the normal damage that comes from dropping the phone the chrome is chipping and wearing away more than it should. So maybe sprint/htc is actually being proactive (yeah right)

Well I see the ranges, but I'm apparently too stupid to figure out hex... I don't want to put my full number here, but it ends with 780A5**. Is it affected?

Mine falls into this range. I will have to text my buddy at Sprint to see what he knows about this.

I called sprint and was told that it happens go buy a case
I told them I heard that it was a sprint know issue
But still now luck what should i say, I never dropped the phone
What should I say to them This is really bad

eh I never knew the early touch pro's were recalled O_o I bought mines when it just came out last year at best buy and I dropped my touch pro from like 3 feet and the chrome got scratched...my ESN hex starts with 801...do I fall into that range and can I still go to a sprint store for an exchange ?

so 2 weeks back i posted a rather lengthy post about this and my troubles getting a replacement for damaged chrome (unit fell within range) that ended up being closed by a mod (and rightly so). if its any consolation at all i was in the midst of cutting weight to make weight for a fight a fight i had in couple of days ( anyone thats been there i know understands the hell it is). so my apologies...that said this is indeed replaceable and in hindsight i would have got managers name, called corporate and handled it that way rather than acting like a baby. hope this is more helpful than my last post on subject.
