So is there a definitive fix for this?
yea, swapping dialer skins fixes it but there are disadvantages to that also. If you switch to the WM default skin, it will ring almost instantly but it won't dial 911 & ## codes won't work (& it's butt-ugly).

I am using Paul DeGroots blue VGA dialer which is a pretty good compromise. It looks awesome & rings almost as fast as the WM skin.

The skin I'm using is available in a cab, let me see if I can find it.

Re: Ring delay with Incoming Call

These tweaks seem to be just for the delay between the actual playing of the ring tone. I changed to a 0 delay , and the default ring tone would just loop , like this "ringringring" rather then "ring..ring..ring.." I hope I explained this right.

Update: Found an old post with some great info and it seems to have worked for me doen to 1.5 rings till the ringtone comes on vs 2-3 check it out: The regedit seems to stick for me through soft reset

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\RingTone0
Change 'Script' from 'av0pw3r' to 'av0pr' and you'll get 0 sec delay.
OR change it to
av0pw1r = wait for 1 sec
av0pw2r = wait for 2 sec
and so on...

++

Edit :

Here are the ringing codes

a - stands for display
r - repeat/replay the script again
c - sets the volume C50, c150, c100
f - means flash .. f1 flash for 1 second and f0 stands for flash continuously
p -means play ringtone
v- vibrate then incorporate with number to state how many seconds it will vibrate example. v3 vibrate for 3seconds or v0 for continous
w - stands for wait or pause then specify how many seconds like w3(wait for 3 seconds)

here are some examples
Flash - af1w60f0
Ring - apw3r
Ring Once - ap
Increasing Ring - c50apw3c150r
Vibrate Then Ring - v3w3apw3r
Vibrate - av3w3r
Short Vibrate - av1w3r
Vibrate Long Then Ring - v3w3v3w3apw3r
Vibrate And Ring - av0pw3r
Increasing Ring And Vibrate - c50apv3w3c150r
Fast Vibrate And Flash - af1v1w1f0r
Vibrate and Ring Continously without pausing - av0pr

True, but once you get your programming done it is not something you need to worry about very often.

I can't do all the functions with my dialer skin, but when I need to it's easy enough to swap back to the Diamond skin temporarily.

I was on the phone with the sprint tech and found out the hard way that you couldn't do the ## codes. I tried to switch back to the default dialer but it would never go back.

Needed to do a hard reset to get the default dialer back.

I'm guessing that a new phone wouldn't resolve the problem.

I just switched back to the stock skin just to make sure this wasn't a true statement. I deleted the new skin I had loaded & rebooted. When I restarted, it showed the WM default skin. I then opened Adv Config & set it to load the dialer skin. When I restarted again, the default Diamond dialer was back & working fine.

Keep the stock htc tf3d dialer and improve the ring delay: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=48030
