Re: Horrible Shutter lag

I was one of the raging idiots that bought one of the SLP cameras on Ebay that was advertised as 12mp about 5 years ago.
Actually I researched it beforehand and found that it only was capable of 3mp and was interpolated to 12mp. I figured for a 3mp camera for $100 wasn't a bad deal (in 2003), so gave it a chance.
It was advertised to be delivered within 7 weeks but by the 8th week that it arrived I had complained so much about the delay that Ebay/Paypal had already refunded my money. Little did I know the camera sucked so bad to render it completely useless from even being a kids toy.
Hopefully the TouchPro camera isn't just using interpolation to fudge the numbers.
I wonder if the shutter speed is already at it's highest limit. If turning the sound off is actually helping, then possibly turning everything off (all programs, TouchFlo, Radio, bt, etc) might make sense as a test.

EDIT:
Ok, I got curious and finally used the camera for the first time just now.
I put phone in flight mode,
changed the capture to be placed on device rather than storage card,
changed the shutter sound to off,
shoot option to be "touch" rather than "button press",
metering mode to be "average" rather than "center"...

and I'm not seeing as much delay...

Likely culprit was the metering mode.
Seems if you wish the metering mode to be "center" then you may wish to also use the timer option so that it focuses seconds before the shot rather than the "moment" of the shot.

Re: Horrible Shutter lag

I use my camera alot...

and noticed, that using the unlocked burst and sport modes, its alot faster.

with the sport mode, it also seems that the shutter speed might be faster. I can move the phone around in my hand an pictures are alot clearer than when using the burst only mode.

Also, I try to lower the MegaPix when Im trying to take quick pictures.

I suggest Trying it out. Maybe ill post some comparison pics later on when Im home.

I say 1995, but it might be a little bit later.
Yeah, later. More like 1999 and that's if you bought a class-leading Nikon Coolpix 950.

Re: Horrible Shutter lag

What does "Keep Backlight Off" option do? I tried both "Yes" and "No" and I'm not readily seeing any difference.
I had initially expected it to turn off the backlight so that there was no preview of what was recording/etc.
Is there a way to continue picture-snapping and recording without the preview?

I am pretty sure that just overrides the timeout.

Can someone talk a little about what needs to be done to enable sport and burst modes? I hear you can't just enable them or you'll crash the app.

If it just overrides the timeout you would think they would have called it something like "overide the timeout" rather than "keep backlight off".
There has to be something else with it. Even "keep backlight on" would've made more sense if what you say is true.
Regardless, the burst/sport mode just killed my camera... after 2 or 3 pics it shut off the camera app and I rebooted to get it back.

Re: Horrible Shutter lag

I don't think timers, sounds, airplane mode, or anything will affect the shutter speed

The light metering mode, maybe... I noticed that in brighter light, my phone not only focuses significantly faster, but I can catch faster moving images.

Still totally unworthy, compared to a 3.2mp camera phone, but okay for a PDA phone.

Re: Horrible Shutter lag

having the same problems as all of you and NO it's not us taking the pictures.
I have noticed that some of the "upgraded" roms have camera version numbers in them. I'm not sure if that may help. We should look into these various version numbers. Problem is I do not know what the default is.
