Verizon HTC TOUCH PRO Information

OK we get the picture - the VZW version of the Touch Pro is gimped.

We understand that. So lets get it popped open so we can see what we CAN squeeze out of it. Some of us don't have much of a choice on phone carrier becase of work or location.

So on behalf of the people that are stuck with VZW - Yes we know, Verizon robbed us again, All Hail Sprint, Our New Overlords!

Now with the formalities done with, can we start working on hacking these? Becase of the gimp, of all the TP versions out there, this one really, really needs Custom ROM's to make it really useable.

So lets tell Verizon, while they make take our RAM, they can never take away... our FREEDOM! A little Mel Gibson moment there

Seriously, there's ZERO need for you to rub salt in our wounds. Yes, we know the specs are different, and yes, we even know some of the software is different, and for whatever the reason, Verizon decided this was a better way to go. They're clearly doing something right. Unlike Sprint, they can actually make money, which can then go back into the Network, and increase our already excellent coverage quality and distance.

SERIOUSLY Exil3d, you are making this thread useless with your rants about Verizon. This is the reason people start new threads asking repetitive questions, because relevant threads are filled with junk. You're acting like a kid who didn't get his way, so he has to make a fuss as much as he can. This thread should be maybe 3 or 4 pages, instead, it's filled with your whiny opinion and your stupid signature. It's no wonder you have so many posts for a member only a few months old.

That would be interesting. I am curious about too. Let me see if I understand this correctly.

This method will turn your EVDO Rev A connection into a WIFI access point your laptop would be able to detect and use?

Yes. Check my signature for the speed test I did when connecting my computer to my phone. I use it on my HTC Titan. I don't have a Touch Pro (yet), so I don't know if it will work.

After some minor tweaks with performance using the Advanced Config Tool I find that VZW TP runs really smooth and fast. No complaints here.

The latest version of WifiRouter works great on my vzw touch pro.

My vzw TP is growing on me. I now have it tricked out with all of my favorite software and I have installed the UltimateBlue Theme for TouchFlo 3D. It looks really nice if you are into blue.

I thought I would hate the vzw TP keyboard. Personally, after playing with the Sprint version I can definitely say that I prefer the UP Arrow/M issue over the fact that the Sprint Keys are so small. To me the vzw kb seems to be the lesser of the two evils.

Its a good phone. Like any device it just needs a little tweaking to make it a great device.

PS. Ask those Sprint guys how often their TP shut down from overheating! I bet non of them mentioned that small detail! Ever wonder how much heat that extra memory puts out
