Re: GPS Lag with Sprint Nav on Touch Pro
Does anyone know how to change the GPS mode? I was going through registry, but could not find it.
Apparently, there are modes 1, 2 and 4, of which 1 is the most precise but 4 is the quickest to fix. Thanks. |

Re: GPS Lag with Sprint Nav on Touch Pro
I have tried the tweaks and changed the modes including mode 1 which is supposed to be the most accurate. It made little to no difference. I don't think there is a tweak that a user can do that will fix this problem. This is something that Sprint/HTC will have to figure out and fix unfortunatly. We all know how well that goes. Aside from the other problems that most people talk about, the GPS lag is the only one that bothers me really.
FYI the gpsmode setting is under HKLM/Software/HTC/SUPL AGPS

Re: GPS Lag with Sprint Nav on Touch Pro
Just spent an hour on the phone with Sprint ATS (adv tech support). They told me they are not even aware of the issue. So, I referred them to this website.
How frustrating. Neither them nor HTC will admit there is a problem. BTW, has anyone tried the com port splitter, such as GPS Gate or similar freeware? Some on the XDA forum report success with GSM models. Cheers. |

glad I got out when I did... so I can grab the Pre, for less than the Pro... Wish I could triple-boot, with WM7, Android, and WebOS ![]() |

Re: GPS Lag with Sprint Nav on Touch Pro
Would it be worthwhile asking someone on this forum with flawless GPS to upload their TP driver so that we can try to install it and see if this fixes problems???

Re: GPS Lag with Sprint Nav on Touch Pro
I don't really experience the GPS lag as you guys state. I use google maps and it updates my velocity (blue arrow in front of blue dot) relatively fast as I turn corners, no 3-4 second lag. It still has maybe like a half second lag, but I experienced the exact same thing on my Mogul. At 30mph I might be like <1/4 block behind (i.e. just as I pass a street, it'll show I'm right before the street) but definitely not a whole block behind, we're talking relatively short blocks here too. I've always assumed that kind of lag was normal though, side effect of the GPS polling speeds. How would I go about uploading my GPS drivers?
My TP is build-date 01-06-2009 Last edited by Darkjedi; 02-02-2009 at 03:39 PM. |
