Re: Touch Pro Build Date

I posted this in a couple of other threads but I'll recap too because I just got a 12/9 TP as well.

+The back case that comes with it now fits very tight (meaning, it makes it difficult to ut on), but does not squeak any more! It's a change in the case, not the phone.
+Keyboard slide feels better, keys feel more consistent, doesn't scrape on the keyoard
+Bottom keys aren't coming up

I come with good news, the screen is just as sensitive!

Re: Touch Pro Build Date

Hi,

so i currently have a TP with a 11/21 build date which i purchased on the 14th of december from bestbuy. now i dont think i have many problems with mine. i made a 40 minute phone call while plugged in and it didnt get any warmer then my treo 755p would i get the same results in the note application as the above poster... my only concerns are that the home key is a bit raised and the back case is not the tightest fit (moves a little when holding the phone tightly). are these issues fixed in the newer build dates? should i bother exchanging it at bestbuy for a different one and hope for a newer build date? should i wait till like the 25th day before i exchange in hope for a newer build date?

thanks.

edit: o and my keyboard wiggles a tiny bit...

Ah, this picture has confirmed for me that no Touch Pro will ever have even touch response... The Vogue, or original Touch, goes all the way to the edge of the screen without heavy pressure, using your thumb.

The main reason I care is for the on-screen keyboard, and the scrollbars... If you don't use either of those much, then it might not matter...

The scroll bars are still hard to hit, but I've noticed it's hard to hit any of them... if they were larger, it would be easier. I've just gotten used to using a finger nail for that sort of stuff.

This one definitely goes closer to the edge with light pressure than the other one did... it's more responsive, generally nicer to use.

Re: Touch Pro Build Date

If you manage to make contact with the scroll bars, your finger can slide off of them a tad, but you'll still scroll.

Damn, I didn't even notice that! Is it a VetVito ROM of some kind?

Re: Touch Pro Build Date

Actually, I've made only minor changes, and I'm working on getting things improved. You can find LOTS of information in a thread here on ppcgeeks... which I can't seem to find right now. It had been locked and unlocked a couple of times, I fear now it may have just plain been removed. I went back 35 pages and didn't see it there...

EDIT: I'm an idiot, the thread is on the first page. It's been cleaned up and consolidated, the information should be much easier to find now.

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?p=588789

So I'll just supply a little information

First:

I will be changing these icons! I don't take any credit for them either.

I dislike the speaker icon, I've found better, and it'll (eventually) be replaced.
I think the signal icon is ok, but needs some adjustment. I am going to be changing the bar colors (1 bar = red, 2-3 bars = yellow, 4-7 bars = green)... Also, the arrows for data transfer will be changed, they're blue when idle, and purple when transmitting.
The Ev/1x icons are ok, I don't totally like the background, I'll think about it, something simpler would be better.
The notification icon is fine by me, so that will stay

There is also a simple battery meter, I don't like the overly complex ones.

Here's a screenshot.

So, here are the files necessary to set it up exactly like this, I've included a readme.txt in the zip file, but I'll put the contents here too.

Installation instructions:

These need to be installed in -some- sort of order to get the desired result. You do not need to soft reset till all changes are complete.

1) Install sdkcerts.cab
2) Install nuePowerDriverCDMADiamond-100-v1.00cab.cab
3) Install nuePowerCPL-152-v1.52-cab.cab
4) Install Taskbar Icons v2.cab
*NOTE* If you stop here, and soft reset, you will have an interesting set of icons, and a battery meter in 1% increments... I just use TaskbarIcons to change the start button, since I don't have files around for it
5) Install FInixNOverBatteryIconsOnly.cab

Now go into the Files to be moved folder

6) Move (NOT COPY) all of the files within to the \Windows directory, overwrite when prompted. You will need to use TotalCommander or Resco Explorer for this, the stock file manager will not work (nor will attempting it from a PC)

Now finally, soft reset. All the changes you have made will show up.

File descriptions:
sdkcerts.cab - Allows you to change certain icons (primarily, battery icons)
nuePowerDriverCDMADiamond-100-v1.00cab.cab - Driver for battery meter that enables 1% increments (see nuerom.com for details)
nuePowerCPL-152-v1.52-cab.cab - Control panel for the battery meter, allows a little better control and also enables the 1% increments (see nuerom.com for details)
Taskbar Icons v2.cab - cabified version of sdkcerts that does what you are doing manually basically, the icons we are keeping from it are the speaker icon, the notification icon, and the start menu icon. If you like the stock for those, don't bother installing this
FInixNOverBatteryIconsOnly.cab - Simplified battery icons which have 1% display support, I think for the battery meter, simpler is better!

\Files to be moved
BT Discoverable.bmp - bitmap image for bluetooth icon
BT On Mode.bmp - bitmap image for bluetooth icon
BT Stereo headset.bmp - bitmap image for bluetooth icon
CDMA_RSSI_PPC.dll - Signal icons!
GPS-icon.bmp - Icon for QuickGPS errors, you'll probably never see this, but hey, why not
Stereo headset.bmp - bitmap image for bluetooth icon
tapres.192.dll - Ev/1x icons!
Enjoy I'll save your guys names and send you a PM when I get around to changing the icons and cleaning up this whole process.
