Re: Remapping Hardware Buttons - Options Here
Hey Stroths (or anyone else for that matter),
My wofe just got a Pro. Do you know if any of the keyboard buttons can be remmaped to use for shortcuts like for "ok" or "new contact" or new message" or something like that? I think it would be incredibly useful instead of having to go back and forth from the keyboard to the screen. Thanks! Quote:

Re: Remapping Hardware Buttons - Options Here
Stroths, No2chem's latest rom has the ability to map the Qwerty keys. They show up in AE button plus. His last rom had keyboard issues, but rom 217 works fine. Just another option we have now

Re: Remapping Hardware Buttons - Options Here
Anyone else having trouble with AEB and the back button when NOT using TF3D? I have it set for the back button to close current app on single click and open iLauncher's task manager on long hold. Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. Runs into problems with some apps more than others, and in landscape mode more than portrait. Sometimes causes graphics glitches, like start bar missing until soft reset, or today screen soft buttons showing up on bottom instead of application menus.
I suspect it's WM more than AEB, as I've seen the back button do weird things before ever installing AEB. Like using Opera in portrait, back button will take me back to previous page, but in landscape, it will start selecting links up the page as if I'm hitting d-pad up. Any registry hacks to completely disassociate whatever WM wants to do with this button? It seems like telling AEB to have full control, it doesn't really get it with this button, and WM is still screwing with it. |

Re: Remapping Hardware Buttons - Options Here
How did yo take control of the back button? Which button is it in AE button plus? I've read that you really can't control the home and back buttons b/c the first press will always do what they're programmed to do. I could be wrong...

I thought the problem with it always doing what they're programmed to do was with TF3D running... could be wrong. I think I found a solution though. Instead of mapping it to "close current application" I set to to run the iLauncher close button. Then in iLauncher options I have the close button set to kill rather than minimize. I haven't used it enough since to claim with certainty that it's trouble-free, but I know that since then each application has closed every time, portrait or landscape, without any bizarre side effects. EDIT: not working. iLauncher close button is minimizing apps, not killing them. Killing requires hitting X in corner, apparently iLauncher OK button is pretty much the same as WM close button. But since mapping back button to iLauncher OK app is working fine, I wonder why mapping it to "close app" function seems to not work well? If I could find some app to kill current app, and link to that with single click, that might work. Last edited by stevenmh; 11-19-2008 at 06:36 PM. |

Sprint Touch Pro Re Mapping
I was having trouble with a few things on my Sprint Touch Pro and the TouchFlo UI. The first is with TocuhFlo; the Sprint and HTC applications as well as the phone are hard to 'go back' or even close. This is especially so since there is no End Key.
The left arrow key also seems to change its function or react slowly inside some of these apps. You assume it is backing you out when in effect it is doing something you may not even notice: In 'Contacts' it is actually changing fields . . . The X in the upper right corner is small and in some cases is very close to another control. Also the sensitivity in the upper corner seems to be different even though I am at 128 instead of the stock 15 for the finger push setting. Second, grabbing the phone out of a pocket, or putting the device into the cradle either on my desk or in my car I kept pushing the volume contol buttons. I had to exit out of that and then do what I was going to do; like answer the phone . . . So I used AEBPlus http://ae.inc.ru/aebplus.php to remap the Volume Control buttons which are the only external buttons on the device other than ON/Off: (remapping the front four is painful) UP Button 1 Press = Do nothing 2 Press = Close application Long Press = Volumne Up Down Button 1 Press = Do Nothing 2 Press = OK / Close Long Press = Volumne Down This seems to fix all those issues . . . . |
