As you say: Different strokes. . . However, there is a difference between optomized and functional. From a functional point, if you are constantly grabbing the phone out of a shirt pocket and pressing these buttons, it gets annoying every time the phone rings or chirps and you have to first 'close' or clear the volume app and then see who sent you a message or who the call is coming from. By the time you answer a call it has gone to voicemail . . . If you have a better idea about dealing with the problem I would love to hear it!? The volume control buttons on the Sprint version of the Touch Pro are larger (longer) than most buttons on HTC decvices in this area of the phone (upper left side). They also stick out a little farther and are easier to depress. I suspect that the fact that the case and apparently the buttons are metel and not plastic or metal coated plastic has something to do with it. I am sure the way you form a metel frame has some restrictions that plastic does not. This may also be the reason the Sprint or CDMA version is a little taller. I think that HTC has made the same mistake they made with the AT&T 8125 that the 8525 later fixed; they added a Menu Start button and and End/Close (X) button along with the thimb wheel. While we do not need a thumb wheel with TouchFlo and a Start button is questonble, there is an awful lot of unused real estate on the phone. |

Re: Remapping Hardware Buttons - Options Here
Download MortButtons here:
http://www.sto-helit.de/index.php?mo...st&category=13 NOTE: Don't forget to also download the "ClickLED" skin on the same page. This skin closely matches the TF3D colour scheme. 8 Skins To install a skin, download it from the download area, then copy it to the Skins subfolder of your showing the Skins directory.MortButtons installation. To get there, use the “Browse” button in ActiveSync or select the “Mobile device” in the Explorer. The path should be something like “\Program files\Mort's MortButtons\Skins”. It varies depending on installation location (storage card?), Windows localization and version, and sometimes even devices, so you might need some guesswork here. There are two types of skins: 1. .mbz files are zipped skins, you can simply copy them as they are to the skins directory on the device. MortButtons will use the file name in the Skin list. 2. .zip files usually contain a sub folder, which must be extracted and then copied to the device. Be sure to remain the contained subfolder in the archive as subfolder of the Skins directory, because MortButtons uses the folder name as Skin name. With some packers, like WinRar, you can copy the folder with drag and drop from the packer window to the Explorer window ************************************************** ******* and for the example to use mortbuttons for task list... how would i have aebuttons link to that ... through creating a virtual key ...? Command Line: "\Program Files\AEBPlus\AEBPlus.exe\" XXXX ... do i need an ink file .. i only see tasklist.mbi file in the mortbuttons folder i couldnt find an aebuttons manual Last edited by itouch24; 11-23-2008 at 01:12 PM. |

Re: Remapping Hardware Buttons
I have my center button re-mapped as below. However when I'm in e-mail & I "double-click" to close a message, returning me to the email list, I lose the ability to scroll up & down the list using the "up" and "down" buttons immediately above & below the center D-pad. Anyone else experiencing this? Any Solution?
Center D-Pad Button (circle) Single Click - Press Enter Double Click - Close current app (not minimize, but close) Triple Click - Do Nothing Long Press - Open Inbox |

Re: Remapping Hardware Buttons - Options Here
I ran across this app in another thread and I haven't personally tried it and I don't know how it would interact with AE Buttons Plus. With that said, its supposed to give you access to map some of the keyboard keys.
Here is a LINK It's called PQzII and is freeware. * Automatic SIP changer (responds to the portrait/landscape mode.) * Hardware key assign (CTRL/ALT) * Task switch and terminate * Symbol input window * Task terminate by the OK button * Keyboard shortcut (Task/Restart/Suspend/etc...) * Hardware button assign (TEL/Camera/Sound record/etc...) * Application launcher (CTRL/ALT + optional key) * Control panel shortcut (CTRL/ALT + optional key) * Dial shortcut (CTRL/ALT + optinal key) * Text template window * Text history window * Keycode convert * Changeable PQzII icon * Hardware key assign (IME) * gsGetFile.dll support (to select files from all folder becomes possible) |
